3 years in Navy (North Africa) by proxy. My dad was a Commander in the Navy and we lived on base at Port Lyautey, Kenitra, Morrocco. It was a blast for a kid.

I also did VFMA, for those in the know.

Thank you CC. We don't always recognize the sacrifice that family members of our military go through when they are either away from home or have to stay behind while their loved ones go away from home. Thank you and all the families of military members.

Thank you ALL for your service!!
I have been on "both sides of the coin" so to speak. I was active duty and now I am an Army spouse. They really are two different worlds. Any support I can get (either for me or my husband) makes a world of difference.
When my husband was in Iraq last year, our community had several 'support our troops' events. Many who participated had not served themselves, but cared enough to reach out to us. Some days, I would not have made it through without them.
(Thank you, Greg- your wife and her class are doing something very special and it is appreciated!)
If anyone finds themselves at the Minneapolis VA- come look me up!

I will be getting out with 9 years with the Army National Guard. I liked it for the comradery and the deployments, but did not like it because of the politics and the asshats. I really enjoyed staying outside the wire and found it safer outside than it was inside. Mind you it was funner. LOL.

wow there are alot of us on here. I am currently in the army, stationed in korea. I am a mortarman (infantry) I agree with the earlier posts about it being mandatory to serve at least 2 yrs. We have some south korean nationals called katusa's. They serve a mandatory 21 months, and get inserted into our companies here so they can train with us.

Served about 10 years in the Army from 1996 to 2007 with a break in service. Where have I been? I guess the easiest question would be, where haven't I been? The one region where I have been, but never had the opportunity to be stationed at is Europe, which kinda sucked because I really wanted to go there besides some of the other places I ended up going, but it always seemed that the cards were never in my favor. Of course good 'Ole Uncle Sam always made sure to rub it in too, lol.

AD Army here. Joined in Spring 2002, was invading Iraq less than a year later. Spent 42 mo's in "SWA", 36 in Europe, and the rest here and there back in the 'States.

I was injured my last deployment and when I got home I went to nursing school and now due to my injury(thank God I can still ride) I got a desk job as a nurse (Case Management). It feels good to be able to help the guys coming back, especially with my experience it makes it easy fighting for what they deserve.

I was kind of mad that Uncle Sam put me out here in the land of sand but the year round riding weather is growing on me
