Android T-Mobile G2 - opinions anyone?

Ok.. I'm thinking of ditching my current blackberry curve for a new T-Mobile G2. I already have T-Mo so I would just have to upgrade my current phone for $ 200 (and another 2 yr contract, but who cares, I'm happy with T-Mo).
I read very conflicting opinions over this phone, some absolutely love it, some hate it because of the bugs and such (like phone reboots itself several times a day).
Does anybody on this forum have this phone? If so, do you like it?
I love the features, but would you suggest I wait until all the bugs have been fixed first? Maybe after an update or something?

If you want to use Bluetooth, you need to be sure it supports Android OS 2.2; otherwise, you can't do hands free. Hands free is not a big thing, unless you're on a motorcycle!

You're really giving me some useful info here!
I use hands free in my car and eventually I want to use it with my newly purchased Cardo Scala headsets! So basically I wouldn't be able to pair the cardo Scala or my car to the G2?? That's NOT good

I dont have a g2 but I have an HTC EVO with the android OS and love it. Both phones are made by HTC right? Bluetooth should work with any bluetooth headset, the android OS version is irrelevant... What do you mean g21-30?

Yep.. it's an HTC phone as well. I went from Windows Mobile to Blackberry and not sure I want to go back to any of these 2 OS's, and I really like the Android interface so I thought I'd give it a try, but the bluetooth needs to work!

Bluetooth will work with any version Android. Android 2.2 adds some additional features within the bluetooth spec that will allow voice control for certain phones and most headsets.

Bluetooth works with all flavors of android; however, the handsfree only works with 2.2 and above! By handsfree, I mean you're not required to TOUCH any button on the phone, in order to activate hands free. I returned an HTC ERIS many months ago for that very reason. Even the Motorola Droid could not do handsfree until it received the 2.2 update!

I have a blackberry curve right now and I also have a Samsung Moment with Android 2.1.

To be honest, the android phones were fantastic for fun stuff. Games, apps, overall it is like a mini laptop with slightly better battery life. I would have stuck with it but i ran into issues when my Grandma had a stroke and I was the head contact person. Everytime i get an automated system I would have to listen to the choices... move my phone away from my ear and wait for the touchscreen to turn on, slide the dialpad up, hit the button, and quickly listen to the next prompt... and then do it all over again. On several occasions, the phone wouldnt respond and I either hung up or hit speaker or mute accidentally. Overall problematic when i needed it.

On the otherhand, like i said... I loved the versatility of it and probably could have avoided the problem had i used a headset. It practically replaced my laptop with DocsToGo on it.

On the flip side, the blackberry is for just that. All business. If you dont use your phone for anything but phone calling and email reading, light browsing, or emergency gps then I dont think there is anything that works as fast as a blackberry.

My 2cents. Good luck with either. They both work wonderfully in their own right.

Thanks Brian, I'll keep my Blackberry for work anyhow. I was looking for a "fun" phone and it looks like Android based phones fit the bill
