Issue with oil thinning out...

I got bike from a neighbor who passed away so I have no history on it... It's a 95 and has just under 6300 on the clock.. Initially the oil that was in bike came out the color of hot coco.. Water in oil... I changed oil and idled bike in garage and around the block... I've changed oil several times and put new filter in... Now since plates came in I changed oil once more and put some real miles on bike.. But I've noticed at idle the oil light comes on ... The bike seems to run fine.. Doesn't overheat but seems to be making noise in the motor.. The noise may just be my paranoia ... Seems to be between 4500 and 7000 rpm.. But seems to be noisier than normal at idle... Drained the oil and it seems really thin... Color is maybe slightly grey... Not Milky which is indicative of water in oil and I don't seem to be loosing coolant at all.... Any ideas

Does the oil smell like it has been diluted by gasoline?

Is there evidence of oil in the radiator reservoir?

No evidence of oil in the radiator or resivore..
The oil is just cheap valvolene 10-40 untill I can figure out my problem..
Ill drain the oil and see if it smells of gasoline or what method would be best for checking it....
It is definitely thinning out and coming out blackish grey... If it is diluting from gas what would be the cause

If the petcock is defective and left open when the engine is not working and/or one or both float valves are not sealing completely (when the bowls are full), gasoline can slowly leak into the crankshaft.

Does the oil light come on and stay on or does it flicker?
What is your idle speed set at?
As far as the noise goes..Have you adjusted the valves or cam chain?

Post up a video of the noise if you can.

Valvoline 10w-40 4-stroke oil was shown to shear down to a 30w during Viscosity Shear Stability Testing. Engines operating at high RPMs and those that share a common oil sump with the transmission are particularly subject to high shear rates. Gear sets found in the transmissions are the leading cause of shear-induced viscosity loss in motorcycle applications.

What is you idle speed? Have you changed the oil filter? There is a mesh screen by the oil filter that may be plugged up. Oil light should not be on at all.

Ok well I am pretty positive the petcock is working good .. That can be checked easy enough just pull fuel line and let is sit....
When I went through the carbs the float height was checked and the valve and seats appeared to be working correctly but that doesn't mean there working 100%
I have some better valvolene max life 20-50 oil I can put in I'm just not trying to dump some 7dollar per quart stuff in untill I know it isn't not something else
As far as oil light idle is set about 1500 it kinda flickers and as bike gets warmer it seems to get a little more common..
It does go off around 2000-3000 rpm and not had issue with it on over those rpm's
The oil filter is new I put it In after I cleared the initial milky oil and I only have 30 miles on the clock after I put it in.
Screen was also pulled and cleaned At that time ill pull and clean it with a new oil filter once I figure out the oil issue
Ill try and post some video up tonight

I haven't messed with chain tensioner or valves yet I an trying to get all the little issues worked out before I break open the motor... The bike only has 6300 on the clock and had been sitting outside since 2004 was the last time it was ran

Well I changed oil with some valvolene max life 20-50 and took bike for a little ride... While on way home at about 5000rpm the oil light came on and than bam the motor came apart... Rider left side front of crankcase right at front gone.... looks like time for a new motor.. Man what a bummer I'm trying to put this together for my girlfriend and it's been one thing after another ...

You can tell it got very hot from the pic but idk if that would have caused it to explode like that. Very odd. Did you see anything that would have caused that damage? It is possible it got so hot it destroyed its carriage and moved but that seems a little too much.

Look on ebay or craigslist. Always a few motors out there for 200-450

Maybe something was wrong with the balance since that piece that broke loose was the counter balance right? Maybe something internal was wrong to begin with.

Well as long as I've had the bike I've been battling issues with oil pressure. And the thinning oil... I've only had about 40 miles total on bike since I got it running... I got the bike for free from the family of a neighbor who passed away ... I'm guessing he got it with problems but I have no idea of history... I never allowed bike to get overly hot but half of the 40 miles I put on it was just short trips around the neighborhood ....
I didn't get a chance to really look at it tonight ill check more tomorrow I'm not 100% sure if the rod is intact on that side.... Kinda sounded like a rod right before it let go
