Bones Break, But Spirits Don't

There seems to be a lot of people getting injured on motorcycles lately. Many with broken bones requiring us to stay off our bikes. So, what bones have you broken in your motorcycling career? It doesn't matter when it happened, post up your story of how your bone broke and any awesome pictures you have of it. How long were you out and how did it affect your aspects on riding? I want to see your broken bones!

I'll start it!

I crashed when a girl pulled out in front of me. My femur broke on the gas tank when I flew over the bike. I'm going to be out of commission for quite a while, 3-6 months but not a day goes by that I don't think about riding. I rode every day rain or shine before my accident, that chunk of my life is now missing. So far I have no fears about getting back on my bike, but that could change once I'm able to hop on, who knows.

Here's my bone in the act of breaking

Here is a chunk of bone that was sticking up scraping through my quads. The surgeons had to cut another hole in me to get to it and push it down.

Here's the break and that bone sticking up

Can see my three chunks

Bottom of the femur with 2 screws holding the titanium rod in place

Top of my femur, one screw holding it in

another view of my ****ed up bones

Titanium rod going through my whole femur, also I think you can see my left nut, not sure

Creepy ****

No broken bones yet..From hockey, rugby, mma or riding.
I've had 3 proper crashes but only a little 1" patch of road rash on my knee to show for it...Proper gear helps.

Nice pics Jiggles!

Why are your bones so weak?

I crashed once and nothing in my body broke. So I guess I am invincible as well.

That's what I am wondering as well!?!

I was 145lbs flying at probably around 45ish! And I didn't break into pieces. I think it has something to do with me not being pinned between a motorcycle and a car.

Me and Blue Berry went for a spill 3 hours away from home. I ended up with a broken pinky finger and some rash; she runs perfectly fine but damage to handlebars, levers, and shifter (and a broken digit) kept me from driving her home. I had to call mom & my step dad to pick us up, which was incredibly embarrassing.

I've had much worse before. A broken pinky is irritating more than anything else. I've got about 2-3 more weeks of typing 800 word papers and playing video games with 7 fingers, because of my cast.

Of course, when my parts come in and i have the digits necessary to put them on, I'll be buzzing around just like I was before. =)

If you want to hear the full story, click here and scroll down to the pictures on the first page; After that, come back to this thread for more gruesome stories.

I haven't ever crashed on my dirt bike when I've raced it, but I did just have knee surgery a little over a month ago and I have arthroscopic pictures of each of them. Could I post those?

P.S. Endocet/Percocet is a PITA to take (as I'm sure you already know ). Whenever I'd take my Endocet I'd feel sick and my room would feel like it was spinning but if I didn't take it then my knees constantly hurt beyond belief.

ugh i had endocet when i got my wisdom teeth removed..i too got sick. anytime i wasn't laying down, i was throwing up, for 3 days straight.

nothing broken in my first crash, but i slid into a guard rail got a wicked bump and scrape from the railing on my left shin, and now my shoulders, legs, knees, and wrists are kind of achy. And my neck is sore from tensing up.

Broke my toe a couple days ago. I think I did at least... I have all the symptoms of a broken one but from what I've read online, going in to get it x-rayed is pointless because the treatment for a broken toe is the same whether it's broken or just extremely colorful...

No broken bones here (I've never actually crashed on the street and my dirt crashes have all been slow speed and no-injury) but Peter has had three broken ribs from a tango with a minivan.

I think he has soft girlie ribs though because he also broke ribs from being checked along the bench in a hockey game. 'Course, I cracked a rib coughing once, so maybe I shouldn't talk about who has soft girlie ribs.

I had a nasty respiratory infection and was six months pregnant at the time, which reduces lung capacity even more. I had so many coughing fits and there just wasn't any more room for my lungs to expand, so it popped a rib. Sucked!
