Why i hate the wind

Earlier today Lake County, FL experienced some high speed gusts and hail. The result of the winds threw over my poor Ninja.

IMG_3278.jpg

I checked on the damage after the storm was over, which only lasted for a brief 20 minutes. (typical florida thunderstorms ) To my surprise nothing was broke. The cover had a hole in it, right handlebar end is scratched, minor scratches on the right mirror, the tiny rubber piece under the foot peg was scratched off, two dents on the exhaust and thats about it. Didn't see any paint damage, so i am assuming the exhaust took the grunt of the fall. There goes the resale value!

...I sure miss having a garage. Hope everyones Sunday was better than mine!

Wow that really sucks. I always try to park where the wind either blows straight onto it or against the kick stand. I'd imagine that the cover, unfortunately, helped in blowing it over.

That is one of my biggest fears. Coming back to find my bike knocked over by a car or the wind.

Sorry to read this, Drew

It was terribly windy by the East shore today as well.

on the bright side.... At least you weren't on the road when the storm blew through.

protip: Bike covers become full on sails when it's windy out. On the one hand they protect from flying debris (even sand counts here) on the other hand they catch a lot of wind and this can happen. Weigh your options!

There was a tornado alert for Lake County today. Maybe it was sucked up 350 feet into the air and dropped back in the same space.

Same!

Sorry this happened to you... Not too sure what you could do to help with this sort of thing. Thankfully I don't have to worry about it.

I guess it could have been far worse. My bike could have been flung into my neighbors new Chevy. Never trust Florida weather. One minute it is beautiful and sunny out, the next there is torrential downpour with severe wind gusts.

Did you check the handlebars for any bends? I'd advice you to check the front wheel alignment as well. I was in well... almost similar incident and found my front fork and handle bars bent ( not easily noticeable ) and had to replace the entire thing.
