Riding With No Hands

Ever do it? Its pretty fun. I started doing it when I got really bored on the freeways on my trip. I watched a video of a guy doing neutral steering and thought hey lets do the next step up I decided to record it while I was going through some very mild twisties. When I put my hands on the bars it was to adjust my cruise control which is this device here, Go Cruise

Its not a particularly entertaining video, just some very mild curves

Link to original page on YouTube.

I do it when slowing down for a light or whatever, when there's not a lot of traffic of course. Usually put my hands back on the bars around 10mph so I can shift down to first lol.

That's on the CBR which is super stable, I try and do it on the 500 but it gets headshake pretty easily :P

I've done it for years (or is that miles, or both). You need cruise control though.

Right? Its not perfect, my k13s has a really strong throttle pull so sometimes I have to set it a higher throttle setting and back it down to get it to stick but then its quite stable. I'd think with the ninjas throttle cable having less pull that it would work perfectly, so I ordered a second one

The throttle at around 9k rpm works with almost no pressure with the cramp buster, i imagine this go cruise will work well.

Matter of fact i just pulled the trigger on one
Looking cool was a big part of the decision, but preventing people from making wierd jokes about my sore wrist, synched it.

The Go Cruise is worth every cent. Makes long rides a piece of cake and you can just rest on your tank and look bored. I've got some very confused looks from drivers.

Fun huh? I managed to ride no hands last weekend on the straights where there was no wind. Mucked around grabbing snacks out of the tank bag, adjusting gloves, helmet, jacket, mirrors. Unfortunately the iPod was out of my reach otherwise that would have been awesome.

Though, something about my grip or the Go Cruise is loose and eventually the throttle will begin to slowly close. Only once or twice was I able to set it properly and have it hold for a considerable distance.

Haven't braved cornering yet though!

Going to see if I can find the bands it came with to thicken up where it holds. But that thing made crossing LONG stretches of highway so much better and/or entertaining.

Did Brian get shots of you dancing or is that left up to our imagination?

I keep it on the down-low going no hands. I got the GoCruze for the sane reason as lgk, to save on hand cramping. I am thinking winter riding will be warmer also because it will be easier to get blood in the throttle hand

Thanks @NevadaWolf for finding it and thanks jiggles for getting her to share

Next step. Standing up with no hands and steering. It would be easier with the go cruise though.

I found it by searching around for some for of throttle control that would hold it without my hand being on the bar. I need to learn a better hand position since my hand and wrist go numb after a few hours.

Glad something I had was found to be useful.

I've discovered that my Go Cruise has chewed away the grip underneath it. Not saying the Go Cruise is at fault, it is likely my grips as the left one is also wearing away where my palm rests all the time. So while the grip was thick enough to hold it in place, it is no longer the case immediately under the device.

Going to dig out the band and add it on to see if that helps.

I bought the Omni-Cruise. Same basic idea as the Go Cruise, but there is a set-screw to help with tension to hold the throttle. You can crank on that screw and still roll right off the throttle. Kinda pricey, but worth imho.
