Isn't it like a REALLY heavy bike? I believe it's basically the GT650 with a smaller engine and a few cheaper parts... Wheels are supposed to be really heavy as well and build quality might not meet Kawi standards...

I saw the 650 in person at a mall and everything on it looked a litle crooked and not to well fitted. If the 250 you are llooking at looks fine have at it it is your money lol Me personally I would stay away from the Hyosungs based on what I saw, but I havent seen many either. Just my

i think it looks decent but when i got up close and sat on one, everything about it just felt cheap.
I wouldn't pay that much for a used one JMO

The thing in my mind is, when you sell it in a few years or so, every buyer will ask the same question. If you had a choice between a ninja 250 and the GT250 for the same money, which would you choose?

Otherwise known as Hyodung...
VERY prone to rust, dodgy electrics, poor fit & finish. Not a reliable machine. They look good from a distance, but get up close & it's a different story |

Probably OK for $100.
In Australia they are not well regarded despite noobs claiming they are the bestest bike without riding a CBR or Ninja and seeing how a 250 should actually be built. |

Like pretty much everyone else in this thread, I've heard that their quality control is a bit lacking and the parts are hard to find. Those issues make them worth substantially less than a similar bike from one of the big Japanese manufacturers.

We had a couple guys start selling Hyosung around here about 10 years ago. Neither did so for more than a year.
I talked to one of the guys and he told me the work required was just killing them. He said QC was horrible. The would uncrate and find flat tires, electrical issues, missing parts, occasionally dents. He told me fit and finish wasn't all that great either. He said warranty repair calls were high on them. Not too much engine work, that seemed pretty tough but everything else, especially electrical. I've only talked to 3 people riding them. One guy with a 250 said it was the toughest bike he'd ever had and wouldn't hesitate to go anywhere on it. The other two were more like it's ok if you can do your own work and like to tinker. Don't count on getting back if you go much farther than across town kind of thing. Never had one myself and could have bought a nice looking 250 last year for $550. IIRC is was an 06 with about 5,000 miles. I passed since there are no parts sources anywhere within 200 miles except for ebay. |

I know a guy who bought one new for a very low price, and put several thousand miles on it in 18 months. He didn't have any issues with it, and eventually sold it to buy a bigger bike.
I would be reluctant to buy one myself, simply due to the support network being lacking. Occasionally someone here has a problem getting parts for a motorcycle from one of the Big 4 Japanese manufacturers; how many problems will you have getting parts or service for a Hyosung?

Parts support may suck unless you have a dealer close.
