DIY Ninja 250R rear set
DIY-Sharing my experience on installing rear set.
Start!!! Removing the stock rear set. Removing the shift bar using a turning method. After adjusting to the angle I prefer. Left side completed!!! Next is the right side. Disconnecting the rear break sensor. Removing master cylinder. Removing master cylinder joint. Master cylinder joint is also removed by turning. Right side also finished. Job completed!!! P.S. remember to use glue tight for all screws for extra security!!! My album:: www.wretch.cc/album/samuel913 |

Thanks for the DIY!
Is this basically the same for installing the OEM rear set? and is thread locker mandatory? |

Oh...uh....
Maybe I'm used to spending too much time on ADV, but that is totally not what I was expecting under DIY Rearsets. I was all ready to watch some homemade lots wax or sandcasting and blacksmithing done in the forge in your basement. Maybe I differentiate more between DIY Parts and DIY Parts Installation. Don't get me wrong--they look fantastic and you did a great job documenting the procedure. Just not what I was expecting.

Good write up. One thing though I would have used blue lock-tite as that red will be a bitch to get apart. Heat will be required if you ever have too!

Where do I get a rear set like this? What does something like this do for you?

I would like to know where you got your rear set. Link shows its $445. Any place cheaper but reliable? Does it really make a difference in a lean? |

I had the same question. I don't mind paying the money if they are truly worth it and there is nothing cheaper but not skimping on quality. The turning on the 250 is pretty terrible. I can lean my cousins r6 easier and less sketchy feeling than my 09 250. How is the ride now? The new bike seems to have a sportbike stance to it but the pegs are like the old 250 and sorta keep you in a forced lean. Idk if anyone knows what I'm talking about.

I'm pretty sure the 250 will out corner an r6 any day. A major appeal of these bikes to experienced track riders is that they are very flickable. |

R6's are also know as some of the most flickable SS bikes. They practically fall into turns. They're amazingly flickable also.
The feeling @shiftyninja is feeling in turns is likely from the tires on his 250, not the whole bike itself. A pair of good, sticky tires turn a 250 into a whole new corner carving animal. If you raise the tail or lower the nose, it becomes even more quick between turns. The pregen seems to really like Pirelli Sport Demons, Pirelli Diablo Scooters, and Bridgestone BT45's from my personal experience and reviews from many others. The new 250's seem to really like Pirelli Diablo Rosso II's and other sticky tires that aren't RoadWinners |

Well, I am by no means a racer but I am "experienced". I am 6''2' so that's why it feels strange with stock rear-sets, because i'm not properly planted on the bike (my personal feeling).
