To anyone else who wears contact lenses....

doing a shoulder check with your visor up at 50 mph can result in one of your contacts being forced out of your eyeball (ask me how I know).

I dont ride with contacts, they dry out, and if one pops out....it can be hazardous like you found out.

Not as long as you have sunglasses on under your face shield! I do it all the time!

Just if you're interested, here's a related "Riding with contacts thread": http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showt...light=contacts

I wear contacts, but never ride w/my visor open at any speed above 10-15mph or so, I don't wear sunglasses (tinted visor) so any wind above 10-15mph dries my eyes out fast since nothing is covering my eyes.

I use sunglasses during the day and I have a pair of clear safety glasses for night time if I need them. I always tend to ride with my visor up except for insect infested areas or when its raining. I've never lost a contact while riding though (knock on wood).

Well, they're perfectly comfortable when the visor is down. It's when it's up that problems start to arise.

Yah, I can't even ride around my neighborhood without them drying up if the visor is up. I just ended up leaving work a lot later than expected and it was a little too dark outside for my visor.

After having one of my contact lenses pop out, lenses dry out, shift out of position, etc. etc. etc. I said forget this...riding a motorcycle is dangerous enough as it is and got lasik surgery. Best investment EVA!!!

I always wear contacts , my visor is tinted but usually up until I hit like 50-60mph I keep the visor cracked to let air in but not were its directly on my eyes . Never had a issue unless the contacts are hitting there life cycle and need changing anyway then usually little things will mess with them. But a fresh pair of 2 week lenses I can do 80 with the visor open doesn't effect me . Acue vue oasis

I wish I could get lasik, a friend of mine did and absolutely loves it. Unfortunately I'm young and my eyes keep changing; I was told by my doctor that I should wait until I'm 21 before considering it or it might not last very long. If you don't mind me asking; how far back did it set you? (How much did it cost?). I've heard its around $5k+; but maybe I heard wrong.

At first I wanted to get lasik too! Glasses aren't that cute most of the time, haha. Then I just saw 3D Final Destination... T_T

I wear contacts and prefer them over glasses. I'd end up doing a lane check while wearing glasses and look out of the corner of my eyes where my lenses aren't. Then everything is blurry... really bad at night. Not fun when all I see is big blurry headlights coming at me.

Oh, and then I have to remember to anti-fog my glasses during the cooler months. Which I never remember to do.

So, contacts FTW.

Yea....I'm not sure how I would handle the loss of vision, that's obviously the only thing keeping me from getting the surgery. I'd imagine not very well haha.
