Making front blinkers as running lights too

I've seen this (below) from a different forum and wondering if I can make my front blinkers as running lights as well. I've searched our forums but found no one has done it. Can someone verify if we really have three wires running to the front blinkers?

------------------------------------------------------------------
Color Codes On Most Kawasaki’s (the main harness/loom colors are what the turn signal indicators plug in to)

LEFT FRONT TURN SIGNAL Can be an #1157 dual filament bulb
GREEN, Left front turn signal circuit.
BLUE, Left front running light circuit.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.

RIGHT FRONT TURN SIGNAL Can be an # 1157 dual filament bulb
GREY, Right front turn signal circuit.
BLUE, Right front running light circuit.
BLACK with YELLOW stripe, the ground circuit.

No, it's a 2 wire system. No way to make them running lights.

But do you know if we can replace the socket with the one that is capable of dual filament and just DIY the extra wiring?

yeah, you could do that. Just need to use a relay to get the running lights on when you switch the bike on. Not sure if you'll find a socket that will fit inside the stock signal housing, but good luck!

if you decide to go the relay route, this is the write-up I used when making my flush-mounts into running lights

http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/I_want_...pods_into_DRLs

I know it's for a pre-gen, but the basics are the same. Don't forget the electronic flasher, as the relay has significantly less resistance than the light bulb

Thanks for the great info. I'm using my bike for commuting and by the time I get off from work at 6 it will be dark (soon) and just trying to do everything be safe out there.

Just run them off the tail lite.

What was that self canceling turn sig box, didnt it turn them into running lights using lower voltage?? 6v would do it, then 12 for turn sig.

This was it, second from bottom:

I finally made the mod and they look awesome. The lights shine brightly and I feel a lot safer out there especially at night. I got the module from this site and they were easy to install.

Note: There will be a pair of modules per order (L and R) and no need to use the black wire

I was also thinking that it might melt my OEM bulbs/housing but, I've been riding for two days now without any issue. Winter temperature might be helping to prevent melting but, knock on woods.

You might be able to get some LED blinkers that are in a shape you like that would fit the bill and not melt anything, or take up much power

looks stupid? JMO but dont really see the need, if they cant see you head light they arent going to see those? also looks weird cause the light is amber/orange so looks like your indicators are stuffed instead of running lights, Im sure if you wanted extra lights you could of brought some fog lights or something similar for a car and mounted them ??
just my 2 cents.

The problem with just having 1 headlight is that from the front, it's hard to tell if a motorcycle is a motorcycle, or just a car with one headlight out (pediddle). Making a triangle with the lights makes the bike more obviously a bike. While adding extra lights would also do this, some people just prefer to not add extra fog lights. At least, that's why I made my turn signals into running lights.

Just found a really good study to refute your assumption. In fact I added an led strip in front and looks nice too. Picture will follow.
