So, it doesn't matter what rev I get up to....

No matter what we do to the bike, we get engine 'babble' between 3-2 RPMs.

Is it supposed to sound this way? Or is there something wrong with the front end?

2007 Kawasaki Ninja 250r - Near 5K miles.

Yeah, kinda like a small rattle in the front end. A valve noise.

It only happens between 3k and 2k RPMS, no where else.

does it make the noise with the bike stationary and in neutral, too?

if so, isolate where exactly the noise is coming from and a better description of the noise. I vid would help lots. ;)

Guess we have a new Technical term Kelly :D

Can't differentiate from one side of the engine or the other.

Happens while in neut or gear. I believe the proper term is 'Valve Lash'

when is the last time the valves were adjusted?

Don't know if they ever where. Original owner never mentioned it being done.

well, with no records of when it was done last, assume it was never done. The first should have been at 500 miles for the pregens and every 6k, so you're due.

This might sound crazy, but I actually thought I had a similar problem and I found out that it was just my keys rattling. After I took my house keys off my bike key there was no more rattle. Hope its that easy for you.

Ah, if only the world were so perfect.

But alas, I don'y have any other keys on it.

Check your clutch lever and see if it is snug in the housing, if not it will rattle as the engine rev higher and you think something broke. I put some electric tape and the noise goes away.

Cory,

make a vid and capture the sound so we can hear it.... might help to find the problem.
