 I've been doing a little reading and I've found that some riders are going up on the tires sizes on there rear tires ... but they rarely tell of the riding factors.
keep in mind I'm on a 2006 with a 130/80-16 currently. I was thinking of going to 140/80-16 if this is acceptable...

But first I want to know :
Has anyone here done that?
Is it safe?
Does it raise the seat height?
Does it affect the ride at all?
Or is this another BS mod to make people feel like there bike is 'BIGGER'?

All thoughts welcome ...

Many people go to 130/90-16's on the 1st-gens, as that size makes some much nicer tires available than the stock 130/80-16's. The 90 profile makes for a taller tire, which does slightly raise ride height & seat height, but it's minor.

Most people advise against going wider on the stock rims. The ninjette's rim sizes have stayed the same for a million years. When it first came out, the stock rear tire was actually a 120 width tire. Once 120's became hard to come by, Kawi started shipping them with 130's, but that is already wider than the original rim width was chosen for. I wouldn't go to a 140 on the rear of a 1st-gen with the stock rims; if you really want a wider tire and want to take advantage of some of the potential benefits of that tire, you need to change out the wheels as well.

:whathesaid:
I have 130/90-16 on mine. I noticed the ride height at first. It doesn't bother me anymore.
check this page out, it helps a lot.

A 140 tire may be too wide and rub on the swing arm. I have a 130 on mine and its pretty close. I'm just guessing.

oh yea...
I've looked at mine today. It's almost touching with 130/90-16.
