Just curious how long this takes. I've done V8 motors before, but I was needing to know how long it takes you to do the whole thing. I want to make sure I set aside enough time to get it done during a weekend. I also plan on getting some stands so I can easily do the whole swingarm maintenance and tire changes on my own.

I think a trip to Sears is in order for a jack and to the dealer for a rear/front stand. :)

Once I get those, I'll be kissing the centerstand goodbye. :)

I'd PM dotsony; from this thread (http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=13492) it seems he learned some things that he'd do differently the next time he adjusts the valves.

The first time I did the valves, I took 2 days. The first day, I took the bike apart. The second day I did the valves and then synced the carbs.

I could do it in a day, but I like being fresh when doing the valves.

Since you've done valves before on a V8, you'll probably breeze right through them.

If you have the whole weekend, you should have more then enough time. Don't forget to sync the carbs afterward!

I need to get the kit to sync them. Maybe I'll head to the dealer later on this week to pick it up.

It's called the "Two Bottle Method".

It's real easy to make. The only hard part for me to find were the hard rubber stoppers, but I finally found them here:

There should be a place similar to that around you if your not near one.

You should be able to take everything apart, check/adjust the valves, and put everything back together in less than 2 hours. If you have the valve adjustment tool, don't take a lot of breaks, and don't drop anything in the engine, expect it to take considerably less amount of time.

Here's a shot of the valve adj tool I threw together when I realized that I couldn't do it with out one. a 1/4 dr socket a piece of flat stock and a little heat.

I also took some 8-32 thumb screws filed them till they fit in the air adj screws and soldered them together. Can't find the completed pic but I can adj them with out the need for a screwdiver.
