21st Century Swing Arm Plugs

Posted December 15th, 2014 at 03:57 PM by Ghostt

Okay this is one of those fine details type modification, and it's simple and inexpensive.

The OEM Swing arm plug is just plain, it's a flat piece and it chromed, BORING!!!!

So I did my research and found out the plugs from a 2008~2012 model is an exact fit, and replacement. They have a modern look, but as far as color goes, there just plain black plastic, BORING!!!!!

So with a little bit of paint, transformed mine into aluminum, and they match my color scheme nicely.

Final verdict:
So if your just wanting a more modern look, or replacements for lost, or just banged up ones, here's your chance/excuse to do this modification.

It's simple, easy, and modification for a more modern look. Best part is you can either leave them black, or paint them any color you wish, either contrast, accent, color matched to the bike, the possibilities are as endless as your imagination, have fun.

SIDENOTE: There...

Mad Hornet's flushmount front turn signals /AsianCycle flush-mounts clones

Posted December 13th, 2014 at 08:53 AM by Ghostt
Updated January 21st, 2015 at 04:05 PM by Ghostt (photos added)

Okay I know what your say, "not another flush mount that doesn't even come close to fitting the OEM area"

Well if you've been here awhile, then you've heard the tales of the old AsianCycle flush-mounts, and how great they where, but like so many great accessories for our beloved 88~07 Ninjas', they have faded away, leave everyone trying to find them on the used market with little or no success.

Well my fellow forum members, they have returned!!!! Kinda. A company called Mad Hornets is supplying them again, or at least a copy of the AsianCycle flush-mounts. I have ordered myself a pair, to not only use, but for the propose to review.

They were $24.99 USD, and free shipping, they offer them in black/smoke & chrome/clear. I ordered the clear, because all my others are clear, and it goes well with my color scheme.

So now I wait for the postman like I'm waiting on Santa, I shall return with a full write up, a blog entry,...

Who wants to see a MOSFET R/R upgrade?

Posted December 10th, 2014 at 09:15 PM by Ghostt
Updated February 4th, 2015 at 10:57 PM by Ghostt (Update 12/12/14)

Yup, it's time to lose that old school SHUNT STYLE R/R to a more accurate, and dependable MOSFET R/R.

Mosfets run cooler, plus they’re more efficient. So if your stock R/R unit has burned out, maybe it’s time to move to a newer Mosfet type unit as shown here. Mosfet R/Rs model names start with the letters FH. Old type models start with SH.

I have the R/R (FH010) already, just waiting for a few little pieces to show up.

Stay tuned folks, I promise a nice clean and easy installation, with pictures of course.

Update 12/12/14

Pieces & Parts.

Okay I ordered the connectors from Eastern Beaver (http://easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__...onnectors.html )

They offer a great selection and options to make the conversion, easy, and reliable, depending on the level you wish to take it to.

I myself am choosing to do this modification as a plug-n-play...

Posted December 9th, 2014 at 05:22 AM by Jason5885

So i've decided to write my first blog ever and record all my work that im doing on my ninja. I've only been into bikes for coming on a year and a half now and have been self teaching myself through this site and everywhere i can really. This is really for myself to read over but im happy for anyone else to follow or even assist me if i struggle.

Here's my to do list

.Replace wheels with Pirelli Rosso 2's
.Replace Stock Exhaust with Area P full standard system
.Install Power Commander 5
.Take to Dyno to Map
.Repaint/Repair Fairing
.Scrub clean and lubricate Chain
.Locate Fault with indicators (solid)

That's all i can think of at the moment. The aim is to get it ready for april/may time when the good weather comes in. I will probably do more to it as go along.

Modification OEM seat

Posted December 6th, 2014 at 05:17 PM by Ghostt
Updated February 12th, 2015 at 11:49 AM by Ghostt

Okay I looked at a Corbin seat, and decided I'd give it a try and modify my OEM seat, hell gotta be cheaper right?

Seat modifications are fairly easy and cheap to do, I would recommend picking up another seat off* eBay , there cheap enough, and then have at it.

So what's first? Comfort, so after looking and doing research I'd settled on a gel/memory foam insert.

I found what I was looking for from ONLYGEL.COM
they have a large selection of types, and sizes. The one I finally picked was the CONFORMAX™ Motorcycle Seat Gel Pad, model=Long RP
specifications:
Thickness: 1.0"
(0.5in.ULTRAGEL/0.5in.ULTRAVIS foam)
Length: 16"
Width Rear: 7"
Width Front: 5"
Includes Smoothing foam and installation notes.

Second was looks, I decided to take this opportunity to replace the OEM cover with one from our friends at Custom Seat Creations.
I picked the COWL LINE...

GAMMATRONIX integrated led battery charge / standby indicator

Posted November 26th, 2014 at 07:20 PM by Ghostt
Updated October 12th, 2015 at 03:08 AM by Ghostt

Here is a simple, inexpensive, and a must have piece of technology, as I have done.

The company is named GAMMATRONIX( http://www.gammatronixltd.com/ ) and they make some really interesting items from charging, storage, temperature, in various styles.

The one I chose was the 12V LED MOTORCYCLE / BIKE Battery level and Charge monitor( http://gammatronixltd.com/epages/bae...cts/BIKE-E-12V )

It's an easy installation as far as wiring goes, two wires, positive & negative. Where you install it is totally up to you.

I installed mine in the tachometer meter face, to give it a factory look. Installation was easy, but had to be careful due to I had the drill the hole in the face. I routed the wiring out the back thru an unused block off hole in the rear.

The unit works perfectly as described, I like the fact that...

1989-2007 Kawasaki Ninja EX 250 BLACK SPORTBIKE MIRRORS conversion kit from eBay sell

Posted November 25th, 2014 at 10:31 AM by Ghostt
Updated November 27th, 2014 at 07:13 AM by Ghostt

Okay let's face it, the mirrors on the Ninja 250 while being functional, are dated, and also a dead giveaway to that the bike is regardless of how my modifications you do to the looks.

The answer is a simple one swap out the mirrors, I found a pair from eBay,

1989-2007 Kawasaki Ninja EX 250 BLACK SPORTBIKE MIRRORS conversion kit from eBay seller "i5motorcycle"

These give the bike a more modern style, BUT, be forewarned that installation is a a little PITA.

Do to you must place the nuts on the underside of the fairing mount.

The overall mirrors are nice quality, and nice size, and add a little bit more rear visibility, but not much, this modification is more for the looks than functionality.

genuine imitation carbon fiber projects

Posted November 19th, 2014 at 07:11 PM by Ghostt
Updated November 27th, 2014 at 07:14 AM by Ghostt

Over the past few years I've been playing around with carbon fiber wrapping of parts.

I have used the no-name China stuff and it seems to work extremely well. It adds a nice touch to the pieces, and the cost is very low compared to the real thing, and you can do almost anything in the wrap.

A few helpful tips I would give is have some help, it makes it a lot easier if you have the extra set of hands. Another tip is afterwards paint the pieces with clear coat, not only does it preserve wrap, but gives it a more realistic look.

Here is a link to some of the projects I have done.

Extra Heavy Bar Ends

Posted November 16th, 2014 at 09:30 PM by Ghostt
Updated August 6th, 2015 at 08:53 PM by Ghostt

Okay we all know the bars vibrate on this bike like crazy. Let's face it, the OEM ones are a bit small.

So I ordered a pair of SCHOOLIE's extra heavy bar ends. He makes them to order depending on what length and weight you want. I picked the 3" long, and weighing in at 23 oz!!, o did I mention they are solid stainless steel too.

From Schoolie's post @ EX-500.com,
Quote:
I'm currently taking orders for these. Once you confirm your orders, I'll put them in the queue and work on them in the order I receive them. When I've got them made, I'll send a message requesting payment. I'll ship them out when I get the money.

I can make them to whatever length you like. Pricing for standard bar ends to length will be as shown in the following table. For anything other than that (bar end mirror grooves, etc.) we can discuss pricing before I get started.
