Assembly error/s under the top cap? Wrong return springs, too long, coils binding early, preventing full rise? Additional parts added in error? Slides should rise higher than pictured.
Check pertinent components versus your originals.
PS all slides/diaphragms/return springs listed as identical '88 and up.
