Not at all...

A properly maintained 250 can handle 1000 mile rides at sustained 10k rpms for long periods of time at speeds in excess of 70mph. Even in 25mph winds.

As far as the rider making it rough... sure it's possible but relax, stay loose and the wind will not blow you around much at all.
