Stock pilot is #38. Doubtful whether increasing size would help at all HOWEVER adjusting pilot screws on each side for highest idle may improve your situation. Worth a try, no?
Are carbs equipped with any other mods, as in needles or shims?
Did you confirm fuel levels in each bowl to be correct?
Are pilot jets and circuits genuinely, fully clear?
