hmmmm, the damper bolts have copper washers for sealing purposes ....leaking there perhaps? Were those bolts removed and washers *reused* or replaced during initial fork service?

Darksik....any fork oil present when you carefully inspect or wipe the actual fork tubes? Is the leakage grease or fork oil?
The outside of the lower tube is a bit of a stretch for speedo drive grease to migrate to, but a leaky copper seal washer on a damper bolt...hmmmm.
