Its advisable to know the manufactured size of the jet you are intending to poke prior to blindly going at it.

an '09 uses 38 pilot jet
.38mm = .0149"

I'd suggest a "fourteen" string in this instance....followed by a bath in spray carb cleaner, finish with compressed air. That should clear it without hogging it out.

Note, while guitar strings work great for pilot jets, the hidden inner passages within the carbs can't possibly be cleared with strings. Like a maze...there are varying degrees of bends and curves and varying sizes of orifices within each circuit.

Don't be misled...by design, they're a little more complex inside, eliminating the possibility of simply snaking them out using strings.
