Specifically, in your set scenario above.....10 years is certainly reasonable, provided no running issues surface prior.

Generally speaking (many variables) any purchased used "new to you" bike, especially those gaining in years....again around 10 year a good general rule to service carbs....service including *full* seal/oring and float valve renewal. Contrary to popular belief they have a service life...never intended to last forever (exposed in a constant fuel environment) In addition, float valves are a moving service part, their viton tips DO wear.

Here's a pic of fuel rail seals from an original, untouched 25 year old set of Mikuni off a Ducati ....I'd submit these were done a little on the late side, the white corrosive drying and cracking the seals. Out and out dangerous in this instance, these leaking would be catastrophic.

So, I'll submit that 25 year interval is too long. I routinely encounter 10-12 year old 250 carb oring/seals that are compromised way beyond service life ...flattened, crystal hard, corroded, etc etc.
