For discussion purposes, I'm doing today a 19 year old set of SV650 Suzuki carbs....a float valve went runaway....filling the combustion chamber and crankcase with fuel. I'll submit this example of denying a refurb for 19 years also too long.
I'm thinking the 10 year threshold is safe and reasonable, again though...subject to variables.
