MSF courses too, especially the A.R.C.
Just because you ride a lot more miles, doesn't necessarily make you more experienced, practicing does, and refreshing your skills, and keeping them sharp.

I liked this quote from the article. They know that the old proverb "pride goeth before a fall" translates, in the motorcycle world, to "pride goeth before the crumpling of your machine against a guardrail and a visit to the hospital for a broken collarbone and a ruptured spleen."

The article is missing "grace".

I didn't mean it so literally though, but yes.... even for klutzes.
Which leads into the next thing that the article is missing, forgiveness. An experienced rider does not dwell on the mistakes of the past. It is forgiven so the focus can be spent on more productive aspects of their lives.

Hahahah I love this. When I first started mountain biking my friends took me down a black diamond run down Mt. Seymour here in the North shore of North Vancouver (the mecca of downhill mountain biking). I had literally no experience on mountain bikes but am not afraid of the speed from my racing background. I was able to ride with the group and keep up to them but at the end of the ride my friend made the best comment. She said, "you rode great today Misti, but you were far from graceful." It was true. I was riding all frantic and out of control, I crashed a few times and wasn't able to perform the basic techniques smoothly or gracefully. It is a true sign of someone who has become experienced at something, when they can perform not only fast, but with grace as well
