I second Snake. Lifting/building is a great stress reliever, takes up about an hour to an hour and a half daily, with one to two rest days in the week. I could point you towards supplements and regiments, should you decide to get serious. I've gained a total of 70lbs in the three years of athletics/lifting I've on-and-off done.

Probly just do more specialized schooling in the mechanic field, race car technology sounds pretty fun, and they closed out the motorcycle courses here while I was gone all these so many years. I've been a diesel mechanic for 7 years and worked on junk most of my life. Thought about doing something less physical so I would be fresher when I got home to play on my toys, but race cars sound funner that the junk I been workin on

Lifting weights helps me out mentally and physically.
A few simple free-weights and you can very easily sculpt your upper body into something much more impressive than the average Joe. (no offense joe, if you're listening.) Going for a long and tiring run or cycle also help the mind/body. After that... -hunting -meditation -studying new skill -skateboarding -mountain biking -womanizing -going out to eat -building things -reading -people watching -hiking -getting high I'm sure there's more. |

just gonna throw this out there, you can take it or leave it but...
perhaps you could take up breeding and training cats and use those cats to pick up women because chicks dig cats that or sell pirated videos of ToTW2 either one is fool proof

Perhaps you could build a trailer with a cat farm inside of it. Then you could pull it around on your bike and play music -- like an icecream truck. You could become the neighborhood cat peddler, kids/women cannot resist the cats, they'd be buying up a new one every time you rolled down the street. The mutual attraction of the cats and the singing gas cap would certainly work in your favor. |

Seriously, take up lifting.
Such a healthy outlet -- mentally speaking. You learn to control your mind and you learn that your body will do exactly what you tell it to, whether it thinks it can or not. I could go on and on. Self-control, lifting when you don't want to, when you don't feel like it. You lower your tolerance for bullshit in and around your life. As you raise your standards for yourself, your health, your body, and your values -- you attract a higher caliber of peers. Lifting is meditation in itself. Also develops the habit of knowing you have things you can 'escape' to when life gets tough. The weights never lie. Girls come and go, friends come and go, jobs/bosses go through tough times, --- life can throw some pretty mean shots at you with no warning -- but 20lbs... is always 20lbs. Not to mention the physical improvements. I would seriously lift even if there weren't any visual physical changes. Recommendations to form/keep the habit -- don't get into the gym, it costs money and takes up a lot more time commuting, planning, etc etc. Get some weights and some routines and lift at home, alone. People who get into fitness as a hobby tend to attach all kinds of things to it and make more excuses (Oh no, lifting partner isn't coming, I guess I'll go to mcdonalds instead of the gym.) -- don't buy into hype about supplements etc. Lifting heavy things builds muscle. If you really want to get into it, have a protein shake after. Lots of people get 'hooked' on the magic allure of supplements -- I'm not talking about gear/test, but things like preworkouts, mass gainers, even creatine feels like a bit of a gimmick to me. I see people leaving the gym looking all puffy and large and I think to myself... "Okay, so he's retaining water. But how much can he benchpress/squat/curl?" It shouldn't be about looks. -- do simple workouts that you can vary and change as you feel fit. Some muscles grow much faster than others -- some workouts will get easy after the first few times, others won't feel easier for months. -- This list could get much longer but I doubt anyone read this far. |

3-Test-oxo CLA Whey protein 2x day, 50g shakes w/ whole milk HemaNOvol hemodilator Adrenalize --diet-- I guess if I had pictures of me at twenty, and now at 24, you could see. I was a twig, haha. from 140 to 210 Granted, I spent about 500-700 on my first stack, when I got back from Aghanistan I had a copious amount of money saved up. At first I was still on the ardio side of things, pushing myself to run alot and not really lifting, save my 25lb dumb bells and rotating pushup stands. I was real thin and wasn't liking the lifestyle, ankles and knees always hurting from running. So I cut out cardio for a while and got on those gain suplements, I dont really remember the timeline so well but my wife is a dietician major, and when I told her I wanted high calories low carbs high protein and fiber, she knew what to do. Blew up over two years of bulk, still widdling down the fat to this day. Here's two from about three months old @ 205 [I'm 6' even] |

That's some pretty heavy stuff. It's good if it worked for you and you're happy with the results, but I think we might just have a different philosophy. To me, loading up your body with all that stuff flies in the face of what makes lifting so good for you. Not for me but impressive gains nonetheless.

Haven't we covered the training and lifting in another thread already? And about cats, lemme tell you.
Lol, on another note... archery is great for "loose" control, focus and cheap if you go with an old school bow. It's very calming too. Most importantly, do you have any family that you haven't connected with in a long time? Maybe take the time to reconnect in your non riding/busy time. For me it's about yen and yang and creating balance in life, make sure you take the time to stop, slow down and smell the roses along the way.

Same! But joining a college team is a great way to get better and keep yourself honest on workouts, that's why I'm doing this. Plus my aunt does them. We've been doing du's, but I want to do a tri with her because she's been doing them forever and I like our bonding time by competing in races. The competition between us is always to place better in our respective age groups.
I'm definitely not going pro any time soon. I just like having fun and getting a good workout. I can shut up a bunch of those neighsayers err, I mean ripped football guys who bash on me for being skinny... at parties when I tell them my workouts. |

The fact you most positively don't have an idea of what is in these supplements aside, we'll discuss this in PM. It'd be more appropriate. @Johnny. Probably wasn't too clear in typing this morning, I was on my way out the door. The 25lb and rotating stands were the only 'upper body' I worked out when I was running, is what the context was meant to be. It wasn't until I got my gym membership that I began doing more gain, less cardio. |
