Greetings from Arkansas. Well got my first bike last saturday and now am waiting to go to BRC towards the end of may...I stare at it everyday...

well its metallic black 2009. I have helmet, gloves and jacket for now. My state doesn't require gear. I don't know how they feel safe enough to ride with shorts and t-shirt...

If you have a drive way or live on a closed street you could practice getting used to clutch. You want to find that zone where it starts to engage the engine.

Good choice on gear even if not required. I had a rock hit my visor yesterday and I could only begin to imagine how much that would have hurt without a helmet.

read your owner's manual and familiarize yourself with the bike.
