Bell RS-1 Helmet outer shell looks HUGE on me

Does anyone here have the Bell RS-1 Helmet? I wear a large and it fits snug and perfect, but I noticed that the outer shell size is GIGANTIC.

When I compare it with other large size helmets, the RS-1 is definitely larger (outer shell size).

Why is it so big? It kinda bothers me haha. All my friends say that it looks funny cuz it's so big compared to my body and I'm 5'11 170lbs I'm by no means small and short.

I love this helmet and it's awesome, but I'm just ranting I guess.

Have you compared it to a Shoei RF-1100? I wear a Large and it looks big on me, too. I don't care, just mentioning it so you don't think you're the only one that a helmet looks big on.

I’ve been using the RS-1 Steam Punk for several months now and I love it! I use a medium and the helmet does look a tad big on me (5'5) but it fits perfect, snug but in no way uncomfortable. It looks bigger than the Bell Vortex last owned so that’s the only reference I have.

Cool, I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't just my imagination. It's a great helmet, no complaints about that. As long as it isn't just me, I'm fine with it.

Seems to be the same size as my old HJC lid. I wear a Med but I believe with the RS-1 the Med and Lrg share a shell.

HEY!! i RUV how my helmet looks!! it's an EXO400 in the Small size it has reflective stickers all over it for visibility. I took forever and cut them just the right shapes so they follow the paint scheme At night, it looks like a light bulb

and I bought a lime green mohawk. I'm debating a green mirrored Visor as well.

I feel like my helmet is actually too big too.... But on the inside it feels like it holds my ears awkwardly to the point it kinda bothers me so idk which way to go.... I feel like in an accident it would protect, but like I said I feel like my ears are pushed down almost when I wear it and no I dont have big ears... Then again I feel like I'm too big for my bike....

As long as your helmet is firmly attached to your head and the inside fits right, who cares about how the shell looks in comparison to your head?

But you're still not answering the question.... If I can get one that looks right.... and fits/protects right... I'm probably going too. I'm asking for opinions here. Jesus I'M A BIG BOY AND I CAN BUY NEW HELMET IF I WANT TOO!!! (<--- temper tantrum) LOL

@nst416, back to your original post:

As long as the helmet fits (stays on your head, doesn't allow side-to-side, up-and-down, or twisting motions) and is comfortable for long periods of time, don't worry about the shell size. The fit and comfort of a helmet are the most important parts
