No apology required.

Is it ok? Sure, better than going bare handed. But really, there are better options to protect + keep warm hands. Maybe wear your riding gloves with liners as well. Some will also add rubber gloves (or variant) as well.

Layer up!

He would tell me to man up too. I am a big sissy when it comes to cold hands. I blame the wife of course, she won't let me touch her with cold hands.

Lol, I prolly would. It's cold as heck here and I'm just wearing my fleece running gloves around campus. When I bike in the cold, I wear light weight goretex gloves. I hate the cold, but I'm surprisingly used to it.

I wear a nice thick pair of snowboarding/skiing gloves in the winter. They're leather with nice thicking padding so I think they'd do alright in most crash scenarios, maybe not as good as my gauntlets but still. They're good down to the mid 20's if you aren't going too far. It helps to keep your core warm too and I've found that if I put my gloves on inside or right after going outside before my hands have a chance to get cold that helps too.

I'd be concerned about the lack of protection from those gloves. Try glove liners. The freeze-out glove liners from cyclegear are decent and likely on sale right now for super cheap.

Get some rubber gloves from walmart (like $3 or so), like the type you would use to scrub a toilet with. Wear a thin pair of gloves (like you'd get from a gas station for $1, just some really thin ones) under those, and wear your motorcycle gloves over that all. You get basic wind and rain protection for under five bucks.

Snowboarding gloves are not made for motorcycles. You wouldn't want to go down with something on your hands only designed to protect you from powder.

I ski and snowboard but for riding I were a pair of carhart winter work gloves I got from Tractor Supply. The problem with snowboard/ski gloves is they need to be breathable because you are exercising therefore are not as windproof.
@subxero is also a snowboarder who went with work gloves for riding.

^ truth

I have 3 different levels of gloving up

Anything above 40 F and I wear my A* GP plus. They are very breathable and hands get cold quick and around 40 degrees is about as cold as I can tolerate with them.

At that point I generally switch to a pair of cheaper I believe joe rocket leather gloves, (non gauntlet) and I wear a cheap pair of cloth gloves underneath them. This is good down to about 25 degrees F (for me, no more than 40 minutes highway though)

Anything colder or for longer rides I have a pair of insulated work gloves from walmart that are pretty durable and then I also wear a cheap pair of cloth gloves underneath them.
I don't ride much in anything colder than mid teens as once it gets that cold here the roads are absolutely garbage and riding is not an option or at least not worth the risk in my opinion other wise I might look into a nice pair of motorcycle heated gloves. Again I just don't ride enough in those temps to justify the purchase.

I would not wear snowboarding gloves though, cheap winter/snowboarding gloves will just suck plain and simple for both insulation and protection. Nice expensive snowboarding gloves might be able to keep your hands decently warm but will still provide no protection and the thought of destroying a $150 pair of snowboarding gloves or mitts along with my hands isn't all that appealing to me.

best option is heated gloves under your gloves. I was lucky enough to get a pair from the previous owner when I got my 250, they're fairly thin but warm enough for me to get away with wearing whatever gloves I want over them.

I've tried cheap glove liners and they didn't work and on top of still having cold hands, it made my moto gloves really awkward. I'm hoping for some nice ones from Santa this year!
