Question One-Piece sizing help??

So I am looking to get a one-piece suit. Found a great deal on an inexpensive suit. I am just having a hard time finding one my size. I am tall and skinny. 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. I currently wear a US 38 jacket. It fits great everywhere but the sleeves are almost too short. But with gauntlet gloves it isn't an issue.

So, I am just curious if I would be able to squeeze (height) into a size 40 suit. It is recommended for people 5'2''-5'9''. My chest, waist, and arms should fit in a 40. Just worried about the inseam and the legs being long enough. I will be wearing full out-boots with the suit. So the legs can be short but I am worried about the knee protection and sliders being in the wrong place.

So what do you tall and skinny folks do? Any size recommendations?

I'm 6'2, 200lbs and I had to get a 50 just so I could fit my nuts in it. I could probably fit into a 48 after stretching it out a bit but to get the correct sizing for my chest and legs I'd probably need a 46.

Most likely what I'll need to do is get a suit altered to fit me or a custom made one. You will likely need to get your suit altered since you are weirdly sized. For track days I'm not concerned about it being a PERFECT fit but once I get more serious I'll invest some real money into a suit

Damn it!

The largest size I would want to get would be a 42. And even with that I would have leather flapping around in the chest/waist area and the CE armor wouldn't be in the right place if/when I crash. And that would suck.

I think I'll just cut my legs shorter and then weld my feet back on to my shins.

Try on a 42 with proper undergarments. I bet you find it decently comfortable.

Proper undergarments would be, a moisture wicking shirt and pants/shorts with extra padding in impact areas, back & chest protector and so on. That should help "fill out" the empty areas in the suit.

Don't go with a suit that is not fitting length wise for your torso. It will hold you back. It's easier to fill out the suit with what you should have anyway.

I like this idea. And I think this might fill out the suit.... http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/f...n-sport-jacket And I could remove the armor in the suit and just use the Fox sport jacket. I wouldn't have to worry about the armor shifting around and I get a chest and back protector all in one package. And then get protective shorts to fill in the thigh area. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/a...reeride-shorts

Something else to consider would be a 2-piece with a circumferential zipper (all the way around). Generally speaking, the 2-piece versions of any 1-piece design tend to have a bit more slack in the height direction compared to their single-piece counterparts, so you should be able to get something that has enough height, AND doesn't flap too much. That said, a 40 is still going to be really short for a 6-footer, but you might be able to get in a 2-piece 42 instead of having to go all the way up to the recommended 44. I'm 6'0" 195# and a 44 fits perfect, both height and 'size' wise.

Edit: Oh, and EAT a SANDWICH MAN!!! Put on 10-15 lbs of muscle and a 42 should fit perfectly

I wore a Dainese size 40 it was snug like it should be but a Lil bit too snug to where my limbs would get numb after long rides. Bumped up to a size 42 and I was comfy some looseness in the legs but I have chicken. Legs. Go with 42 bro. I was 5'11" 155 lbs.

Yeah I really don't want to go the 2 piece route. I think I'll order the 42 to see how it fits and then go from there. Hopefully it is wearable.

And yes I know I am skinny. I seriously can't gain weight. I think I have a super fast metabolism. I am quite active and try to eat healthy foods so I guess that may have something to do with it. I wish I could get into lifting weights but it is just so boring. Haha. I really need to try though. Maybe the suit will motivate me. I'd love to gain 15 pounds of muscle.

Thanks for the help folks. I'll order the 42 and update this thread once I get it.

Update!

Okay so I got the size 42 and it arrived on Friday. If I had some decent sized muscles the suit would probably fit pretty nice. The torso, leg, and arm length is perfect. But it is baggy because I am skinny. The worst part is in the ass area and in the calves. As well as the arms obviously. So I plan on getting a back/chest protector as well as armored shorts to help fill the suit in. And I am going to start lifting some weights to see if I can gain some muscle. Hopefully by the time I hit the track this summer (hopefully), I will have gained some weight.

Okay so you might be curious what suit I got. It is the Sedici Monza from Cycle-Gear. http://www.cyclegear.com/eng/product...uit/web1006297 I know what your all thinkin. That's a crappy brand yada, yada. Well good for you. I'll be the judge of that. It is a step up from Bilt gear and it seems like a very nice suit. Especially for $200 dollars. Yup, you heard me right, only two hundred dollars. That is a super great deal and they have a lifetime warranty. And I can take the suit back to Cycle Gear anytime I want. Can't go wrong with that. And it is going to beat riding the backroads in jeans like I have been for the past year and a half. If I crash and the suit does it's job just once, it is totally worth it in my mind.

I think I got the last size 42 because the next day it was not longer listed on the website. I guess they are trying to get rid of all the suits so they dropped the price by $300 dollars.

Maybe I'll take some pictures of me wearing it sometime this week.

But overall I am happy with my purchase and couldn't have gotten a better deal on a suit.

Yeah, I probably should have shared earlier. It was a great deal!

Ummm, I think a 40 would probably be better for ya. If I was slightly shorter I would have gotten a 40. But since I am slightly over 6ft tall I was worried about a 40 being to short on me and pullin' up on my sack. Haha.

Sucks being tall and skinny. Well, not really but it kinda does when these suits are made for people with huge arms, asses, and calves. lol

But for $200 dollars I am gonna make it work!

That's what I'm thinking as well on size. Thanks for the input Jono. the suit I really want is the Speed and Strength Twist of Fate 2.0 because of the awesome reviews and the CE back protector, but that one's a little more expensive. Worth it though as long as it fits.

Yeah, I just didn't want to spend that much money on a suit and I discovered this deal. Seemed pretty hard to say no to.

That Spend and Strength suit seems pretty nice! Especially because of the back protector being built in.

They are a bit loose, SO

I think I am going to get this....http://http://www.revzilla.com/motor...n-sport-jacket or something similar. And just remove the armor that is in the suit. I will also remove the armor in the knees, so I can wear my Dainese knee pads that I already use with my jeans. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dainese-knee-v-guard

I just got a Cortech Adrenalline suite in size small. I'm 5'9", 160 lbs, with a 38" chest. it was almost impossible to get on. And once it was on, I thought I was going I dislocate my shoulders getting it off. I couldn't without help. I had to slouch a bit with it on, but I understand that's normal for one pieces. I decided to put on my back protector and I couldn't even zip it up. I'm not sure if I should size exchange for a medium or go for something else all together. How hard should it be to put one on?

It should take a bit of effort to get on and off but if you can't zip it, that is a problem. Try on the next size or a different brand. The different brands have different cuts and fitment characteristics.

Trust.... you don't want a suit that is to small, it will hold your body position back and be near impossible to wear in the really hot weather. Been there.... Done that....

I'd be more concerned about pissing myself because I can't get it off when I need to. Lol

I may run down to Cycle Gear and try on the Dianese they have in stock for comparison. I already have an AGV Sport two piece. I may stick with it if I have to.

Pissing is the least of your worries. When it's 99 degrees with 98% humidity, a super tight suit that you can barely zip up will make you feel short of breath, tire you out faster and generally mess with your head every step of the way. I have a pic of me wearing the same suit chone was wearing somewhere. I couldn't even get close to a knee down wearing it.

Probably can't tell much from this photo, but the build quality seems nice on this suit. It was tight enough that I couldn't zip the calves. It seems the size charts are quite wrong for this suit.

Seems like with most suits, they run tad small.

Size Jacket Size Chest(in) Sleeve(in) Waist(in) Inseam(in)
SM 40 42 24.5 32 30
MD 42 44 25 34 30.25
LG 44 46 25.5 36 30.5
XL 46 48 26 38 30.75
2XL 48 50 26.5 40 31

Try a MD maybe? Looks like a decent suit. I am 5'11'' and 172lbs and would go for a MD or maybe even LG depending on cut.

Would it make sense to put on my back protector, then measure my chest? My back protector is pretty thick because it's a Forcefiled.

I watched the following videos that made me feel a little better about the situation. Once I removed the temper foam pad from the liner, I had room for my back protector. It's still a pain in the ass since I'm used to the two piece. I'm going to wear it around the house for a bit to see if it loosens up some. If I master the chicken dance, I'll keep it. I'm looking forward to my first trackday this spring at Hallet.

Suits are easier to get on and off if you have the right undergarments. Check those gents in tee shirts in your first vid vs what the other guy has on in the second. Meh though, I don't always wear that stuff.

I hope she breaks in nicely for you.

I just rode around the neighborhood in it for a bit - feels great on the bike. I always wear an under armor type compression shirt when I ride. The ones at target work just as well and only cost $15. Does the trick. Thanks for the help, Chris!

Yep, some of my undergarments are from wal-mart and dicks. Good stuff without spending a small fortune.

That.

Looks like they are down to white ones. They had black in size 40 when I told you a couple days ago.

Ok, so they have white in size 40. I'm considering this.

This suit is just a basic suit right? All the reviews say that the seams broke when they wrecked. This kinda is leaning me towards the SS Twist of Fate 2.0 because of all the great reviews I've read about it. I'm not sure I want to save some money by compromising on stitching at the seams...

Yeah, just a basic suit. But it only cost $200 dollars. When you are on a very tight budget it's a great deal. But it's your money and skin. So do what you want.

They way I see it. My bike struggles to get up to 90mph. I am not going to be falling off at super high speeds. So this cheap suit should be able to do it's job for my needs. I am not a track junkie, haven't even been once. This suit is so I can go try out the track this summer (I hope) and for when I go ride the backroads. It's much better than wearing jeans on the backroads which I had been doing for a year.

^true dat.

I still need to think a bit. If I'm going to fork out the $$$ for a full suit, I'ma buy a decent one that I can use on the street and on the track, and will last me a while.

Falling off on the freeway at >90 is still going to test a suit. I've had road rash from a 20+ get-off on my MTB. I'd rather not have that again.

I just need to decide on my 3 options. 1) use this suit. 2) use this suit as a starter for roads/maybe a track day, then replace it with a nicer one, or 3) just buy a nicer one.

@csmith12, a new option just opened up for me! I'm still on the hunt.

Link to original page on YouTube.

I really like SS gear. They're great quality. I would still need spine armor for this, and it doesn't come with CE hip armor like the Twist of Fate 2.0 model.

BUT, the ToF2.0 model is like $720 online, the Triple Crown is about $540 online. I can get a good back/chest protector and still spend less than the ToF2.0 Kinda wish it came without the dorky speed hump, but this might be a winner for me.
