Leathers leaving marks on my tank
I have Dainese leather pants which I ride with when riding however they have always left marks on the side of my tank.
I have to polish the tank to get rid of the marks however they come back straight away after riding with the leathers. Any ideas..? Thanks! |

Put on clear protective film like this:
http://thetankslapper.biz/osc/index....88cb9b811726af You can also use stomp grips or techspec tank grips, which also give you the benefit of more grip. |

High quality leather in good condition should not be transferring color like that.
You may use any high-quality leather conditioner that does not contain oils to clean the pants. You can contact the manufacturer or take the pants to a reputable dry cleaner or leather repair shop in your area; they should know how to recondition that area.

Hmmm.... Sure, even good leathers can bleed color to undergarments when wet but I never see anything in that amount. When does this happen? Wet? Dry? What do you use to clean them?
Too much dye on the pants sounds fishy.

Mine are leaving a stain mainly on the plastics (side fairing and trim piece under the seat) though not nearly as bad as the OP.
I haven't tried to remove it yet because I want to wax it after I get it off but my apartment put a lock on the outdoor faucet. |

My AGV leathers do that, but not nearly as bad. Mainly on the sides. It will not come off, so I cleaned it up the best I could then threw some tank pads on and called it a day.

My Spidi leathers left some small marks that came off. I am thinking about adding Stomp grips like I have on my 636. Crazy how much is being left on your tank!

Is it possible he's cleaning the tank with something that sucks the dye out of the leather?
Some sort of wax or paint sealant, for instance? |

Yes, could be that or what is being used to clean the leathers. I asked that in post #4. As cleaning chemicals get more aggressive, stronger & concentrated they can affect the colorfastness of dyed materials. As seen on the back of many bottles of cleaning solutions, "spot test in an hidden area".
