Recommend me a Leather Jacket
Looking to purchase my first leather jacket(read first jacket period). Ive tried on a few at the local Cycle Gear but they don't have much of a selection beyond their gear(Bilt), and I haven't heard anything good about any of it. I tried on an Icon Motorhead size medium and it fit pretty well. I think I'm either a 42 or 44, tried on a few 42's and they fit well but were a tad tight.
-Has to be white, green or blue, with the preference of white for more visibility(Bike is black, helmet is scorpion 700 white chameleon) -Non perf, this will be primarily a cold wx jacket, Ill pick up a Perf jacket closer to the summer when I'll need it. -MAX of about $300 right now. I really liked the way the motorhead fit, but i just cant afford $400 for a jacket right now. And Ive found a few Dainese jackets on ebay(one of em was Black and yellow with a tribal design but a google search didn't turn up much info on it) that looked pretty good but don't know how their sizing works, and I would hate to buy one and it not fit. Sorry for the long post but I'm a little lost.

If you can spend $300, Joe Rocket Radar is a sexy and very very nice jacket... at least from trying it on lol. pretty much standard fair leather/mesh mix with removable liner, has an optional spine protector depending on where you buy it price doesn't change though and nice thick armor in all the important parts. I'm eyeing this bad boy but dang its expensive...

Though I've made exceptions, I look to spend my money with companies I know have good labor practices, sell quality stuff, are small operations where I feel my cash can be useful and, all things being equal, are American companies. There are several good options in our Best Small Companies for Gear thread. Some good options include:
Vanson Leathers Johnson Leathers Pilot Leathers

In another thread, I just recommended that Sedici Monza you linked. If you don't want to fork out the cash for the Vanson, that is the way I'd go, too. Lifetime guarantee and quality is good, all for under $250, since it is on sale right now.

agreed
Vanson best available with or without armor. Second choice would be taken on good reliable word.

I have read some reviews of a place called Kobe USA. A lot of sites have people saying you won't get a better jacket for twice the price. $199 and 1.7mm leather. Alipnestars and Dainese are 1.2mm-1.4mm. I haven't found a bad review yet, and I checked all the various sport bike sites.
http://www.kobeusa.com/category/55-j...and-pants.aspx I tried to order a 42, but they were out. He should be getting another shipment soon though. I plan to get the pants eventually too. |

I bought a Cortech Latigo leather jacket from RevZilla a couple weeks ago. Love it. Spent $251.99 on it.
