Only alcohol can make life bearable. You must drink, always drink.

Funny you post this CC, I just recently grabbed a bottle of vodka. Normally I go with Skyy or Smirnoff, but I tried New Amsterdam. NEW FAVOURITE!!
If you like vodka and haven't tried this yet, go give it a go. I am not big on shots, but it shoots very nicely as well. If y'all know of a very smooth vodka, I'd like recommendations.

New Amsterdam is decent vodka at a decent price. My wife recently brought an old bottle of Krolewska Polish vodka that had been neglected for a couple decades at her mother's house. We had a taste test of the two. The New Amsterdam is much smoother, but everyone prefers the Krolewska for its much more interesting taste.

Snagged another bottle tonight. I've been enjoying screwdrivers lately. I couldn't remember the names you all gave me, so I got another New Amsterdam. I'm done with Smirnoff though.

My current favorites are Pendleton (1910 type if I can find it), and Basil Hayden. I'm looking for a Speyburn Arranta, but I haven't found where they sell it yet. BevMo doesn't carry it, unfortunately.

I really hate that I lost my taste for scotch. Ugh.
I've worked on getting it back, but it is gone. Oh well. Vodka, gin, wine, and beer it is...

Mark, it's OK, Scotch is overrated. Want something different and delicious? Try Don Julio Reposado (or Blanco or Añejo, depending on your preference.)

I've seriously forgotten how much I love screwdrivers. I had one, maybe two tonight, and seriously, I really enjoy my vodka. Gin as well. But vodka has been my vice lately. Damn you Russians/Polish, and your sweet creation....

And vodka is mainly ethanol and water. A friend of mine made a really nice reflux still, and distills and charcoal filters the sugar mix he ferments. Then he cuts it to 80 proof with distilled water, and makes some of the smoothest vodka I've ever had.
Agreed that vodka is much better than Gin, but then I never understood why juniper would be a good flavor in booze. Have you tried vodka and Rose's Lime Juice? If you keep the vodka in the freezer and the Rose's in the refrigerator, the pre-chilled result is amazing. Gimlets are a very clean tasting vodka drink. |

If I'm being cheap, I go with Titos. But I usually stick with Ketel One or Greygoose at home.
I've been ordering old fashioned more lately at the bar.

I haven't done vodka in quite a while. Had too many cherry bombs one night and paid the price, vodka no longer likes me. I always stuck with goose when I would buy a bottle.
My drink of choice now is tequila. I prefer patron but will do Cuervo gold in a pinch. Don't care for 1800 and oh my god Don Julio is nasty lol. Tastes like roast chicken. At least the silver does to me. I've had the patron reposado and it is yum yum but bars only ever have the silver. Chilled with lime juice is the way I drink it. Jager bombs are tasty too. As is fireball. |

I'm told the other cinnamon whiskey is actually cinnamony, rather than just a cinnamon type flavor. I want to say it's something Fire. Tennessee Fire?
Fireball is ok, I guess, but I need to try the other one. I'm with you on Patron, though. |

Ugh, tequila! Long story but let me just say that when my wife and I were dating, well, the tequila didn't sit well with either of us. Last time we both drank it. We started with shots of 1800, and finished with house. Only 5, but apparently it didn't sit well with us. 5-shots in less than 30-min though. lol
I can shoot vodka, no problem. Oh and hater....ugh. Hahaha Remember the drink "Aftershock"? Tasted like a fire Jolly Rancher. All, those high school days.

Fireally is just like the candy. For a cinnamon flavor I really like goldschlager but most bars dont carry it anymore since it's more expensive than fireball.

Don't know how I missed this thread.
O yes Booze First time was crown royal. Nine years old my friend stole a bottle from his dads liquor cabinet. He ended up in the closet his mother found him passed out. I just got sick as a dog. Never opened another bottle of that. Next was a three day battle with a fifth of Caplin Morgan spiced rum. I do remember dancing in the street singing "captain say what" next I remember waking up with my dog sleeping on my back. No more rum Tequila O yes tequila went to a party and was doing body shots with my ex wife. It was a couple years befor I had a margarita. Still like having ONE of those maybe two. Scotch it has to be twenty years old or it smells like the crown royal and I don't go there. All I can say is I am glad the internet is a relatively new thing.

Can't do rum, way too sweet for me.
I just got a bottle of Ukrainian vodka. I'll update you all later. Pretty smooth as far as vodkas go. Just sampled a little bit the other day. Quite nice, in moderation of course.
