Barber, anyone? :D

April 5-6 or May 17-18 with STT. Want to start planning something? I'm already jonesing for more track! Thanks a lot for reestablishing my addiction, Chris.

For those of you who have never ridden Barber, it is worth a trip to do so! It's a world-renowned track for a reason! You could spend 2 days in the museum and still not see everything there, so plan to come a day early.
Check out their Interactive track map: http://www.barbermotorsports.com/indy/flash-map.php

It would have to be Apr. for me. Race schedule would be too close to make the May dates.

My may plans
May 2-4 (Friday Evening, Saturday, Sunday) Nelson Ledges Rd1
May 17-18 (Saturday, Sunday) Putnam Park Rd2

But tentatively count me in for Apr.

ps. Your welcome

I was looking at Barber and those dates to suggest on the North GA Riders thread. I am looking forward to another track day soon. @ally99 wanna start that discussion on that thread?

Alex, is it even remotely possible for you to make it back to the southeast so soon for the April dates?

I would like to make it out to Barber once this season, but it would have to be toward the end of the year. Yet to ride Barber but everyone raves about it.

So I'm hearing we might want to think of something April 5-6? I will tell you now, STT almost always sells out the first few Barber events of the year. It's not something a large group would want to wait until the last minute to reserve. If I remember right, their prices go up 10 days before the event itself, so they obviously want you to book early and not wait on the weather forecast to book your spot.

Ooh, good luck with that going to the most expensive track in the southeast. Barber rapes you a new one every possible way they can.

You have said this on many posts. How much is a weekend at Barber? What all do they charge for?

Oh I have? Then it must be true.

It costs about $250 per day. Camping is ?$50? per night. It's worth it to stay at the Hampton right down the road and split a room with someone. You'd end up paying less, the beds are extremely comfortable, and they have a free, hot breakfast in the morning. Barber charges for electricity (don't know how much), plus there's a gate fee. They don't allow informal track walks but will occasionally ride you around in a little bus and stop and let you walk parts of it. If you go a day early to see the museum, you'll pay $15 for entrance. I don't remember how much food is at the track. Everything about Barber is "formal". There is security there 24 hours a day. It's worth it and expensive for a reason. It is the most beautiful track you'll probably ever have the experience of visiting, and one of the widest, most throttle-pleasing tracks I've ever had the pleasure of riding, but for the price, I'd choose to ride Jennings again if I had the choice, but everyone should ride Barber at least once and just bite the $$ bullet.

yep. four of us, him on his 250 and rest of us on 600 trackbikes. been looking forward to this since last October!

probably one of the best, if not THE best small bike track around. we've been starting our season for the last 4 years at Barber - it's 12 hours away for us, and we end up taking a day off work/school, but what a blast. sure it's expensive, but it's a top notch facility. it's only money....you want a cheap sport try bowling.
