No camping at Putnam onsite sir. Gunna be Super 8 (9 miles from track) for me and the wife. I should be in Cloverdale around 9ish if ya want to grab some pizza. You got my digits? The RV park is ok, I spent the night there before mid-summer but not this late in the season. Was $20 a night camping if I remember right.

REALLY wish I could go since I want to try out the 250 at Putnam, but I have a wedding to go to that weekend (only an hour or so away, SO CLOSE YET SO FAR).

What organization is the race through? It's an Indy Ducati weekend, right?

Never heard of them actually, but I'll check them out.

The wedding and reception are Saturday so I'm honestly trying to figure out if I could logistically race on Sunday, haha.

chris or others that have been, where exactly is the parking area?
wondering if we need to pack our pit bike (we're already packed pretty tight), and if its possible to walk around the track at all.
also, presume we can leave our bikes/gear overnight Sat (its secure)?

You can pit anywhere that I have highlighted in the attached image, or rent a garage. Each garage will hold 2 bikes easy, or 3 tight.

For Putnam, A bicycle will be fine. The entire paddock is just shy of 200ft long. I normally hoof it. There is NO access to in the infield or around the track either. Your only access points are just inside the main gate near the fence for turn 1 & 2 and behind the fence near the entrance to PL at turn 10. So bring your zoom lens if you want a pic.

Gates open a 7am and you MUST be off their property by 6pm. The 6mp close time is STRICTLY enforced. If your doing both days, you will be able to leave your stuff onsite Sat. night.

Also, Putnam has hot and cold pits. Your free to walk around cold pit. And if they are feeling good and riders are riding well, you can go all the way to the start finish barrier. Although most just watch from the white fence. Because it raised 6' higher than the track surface. I know it don't look like it from the pic though.

Putnam is very secure. They lock up and it's in the middle of freakin' nowhere. I've known plenty of people who have left their stuff out, including their bikes with the key in the ignition, and have never heard of anyone having a single issue.

Close but not exactly, with MCRA you can run the sportsman races as much as you want until you bump up to the class spec races. Sure, a 250 aint gunna win a sportsman race vs. a 600 or 1000 in the same race but they will let you out there with just a track day teched bike. I like it that way too. It's cheap entry to try racing without breaking the budget on a fully race prepped bike.

Also, a major difference between MCRA and MS is how they run a race day. With MCRA the races are run at lunch and end of day with track sessions in between. MS dedicates Sunday for races only, no track day riders need apply.

Also, on the $$ side of things... You must buy a track day to race with MCRA with MS you can't just show up to race . But that is why it's club racing, I understand and while not a big deal to me, some riders just want the race aspect of things. I am a good example of that this year. Unless I am tweaking bike setup or working out a new track, it's my race pace or no pace. I have only got 5 track days this year but 8 race rounds. Feel me?

And on that note, I am super eager to tweak my new front end setup on Sat. and then race on Sun. Hope to see you next season Sharky!

Oh! Race results update. 2 4ths on a wet and very slippery Sunday.

I will be honest... the only reason I got 4ths was because EVERYONE (but me ) that didn't have rains crashed. I aint dissin' yo, this 250 grid knows how to ride for sure, setting lap records and all. But on this day, you had to add a full minute to your lap times to not go down. It was sketchy as hell out there.

yah that was one miserable day of racing. funny... i installed this fancy lap analysis gizmo to tell us how to make him go faster, when what I needed yesterday was something to make him go SLOWER! (and finish)

dunno if we can make the last round - lots of stuff to fix, but will be at the banquet.
