It was sort of a general post, resulting from your post. I was just presenting the opposing point of view... that changing tires isn't a scary thing, and in my opinion, it's worth learning to do.
On the other hand, I fully understand that it's not for everyone. |

Changing tires with spoons or large screwdrivers. It's not all bad, but some riders like myself hate it with passion. Don't mean it's hard though. Your patience goes a long way.

I've got a farmer buddy who can bust down and replace a tire quicker by hand than I can with a machine. We had a flat on the trailer once and didn't have the socket to fit the lug, he change out the tire with the wheel still mounted to the trailer! Practice makes perfect, it's not hard. Just a side note, the newer BMW adventure bikes come with a little adapter that goes on the side stand to brake the bead to change the tire roadside.

I ran across a Verithing(tm) (as in "Ah! The Very Thing!") at the motorcycle show a few years ago and snagged one. It's called the BeadBuster and it's awesome... makes the job a piece of cake. One of those times where asking "Gee, do I really need to buy a gadget to do this?" returns "Well, no, but I don't regret it a bit."

This is why I won't live near train tracks... The chemicals they carry can kill you if a train derails, or keep you pinned in your home until the plume clears...
Trains are no joke when they derail. But that's why I went into my field

I live 9 miles from that mess, so it shouldn't effect me so much based off current info and news reports. I will have to find an alternate route to take my kids to school though. :\

Move to the mountains.... No pipes, no trains, just planes.
I know what can happen and don't want to be close to the trains. The chemicals can mix when a derailment occures.
