Wanna ride NCBike in Garysburg, NC for $125 on 9/10, 9/11?
I am a coach for Team Pro-Motion and just wanted to give everyone a heads up on a great deal! If you have never ridden with Team Pro-Motion (or track at all) you can get on NCBike for $125 9/10 and/or 9/11.
I copied and pasted this from the TPM coach's forum: For any coaches that would like to bring a friend who hasn't ridden with TPM before to an event they will be coaching, we have the following special for the upcoming events: Summit Point $100 NJMP $150 (plus $5 all access fee) NCBike $125 per day Gear is an additional $25 Again, all riders must be new riders to TPM If they are interested, they can email me directly (barb@teampromotion.com) and I will get them set up If you have any questions, please ask here or feel free to PM me. And yes, there will be a group of 250/300's at each of these events. I will have an r6, a SV650 and 300 at NCBike both days. If you want to attend but have no way to get your bike to the track, let me know. I, or someone else may be able to help you out. Last futzed with by shift957; August 27th, 2016 at 04:06 PM. Actually, you don't need a belly pan or to wire up the bike. If you want to, that's cool. But we will not stop you from riding for those. Swapping water for the coolant is a really good idea though, and simple to do.
I'm sure tires will be available at NCBike if you have not gotten any prior to the event. |

BUMP!
If you've never been on a track before, Team Pro-Motion has a great class called Advanced Rider Training Level 1 (ART 1) which you will attend. It answers the questions you have and teaches the the basics of track riding. You have a classroom session, then you enter the track with a group of beginners and learn visual skills and the "race line" to begin with. There is a classroom session between each riding session. It is a controlled environment and each session adds to the experience. After Lunch, classes end and you are free to put what you have learned to use. You are always welcome to pull up to the coaches and ask for help. That's what we are there to do Aside from a $500/day school like California Superbike School, this is the best way to get on track and learn as opposed to some other org's who give first timers a 30 minute brief and let you go on track. I took this class in 2006 for my first track day and I am honored to be able to assist it today and help others improve while having a great time and making friends. If you are interested, please hit me up and get signed up soon. If you wait, it may get filled up! |

Mods, I tried to edit the title to update to the upcoming date but it seems to only have change the title within the thread? Is there any way to edit it to keep it looking like an old, irrelevant thread?

If you plan on going and want the $125 entry fee (rather than $200+) you need to do it asap. I don't think you can get this price as a walk in. Just a heads up! PM me and you can drop my name in the email (provided in first post) to get this rate.

Rode with TPM for the first time at NCBike on 9/10 and had a blast riding with some of the 300 guys. Definitely doing more TPM days next year and planning on joining in on the 300 racing fun.
Anyways, I was hoping to get some feedback on my most consistent session of the day. Any tips/advice would be appreciated! Skip to 2:40 mark and also, look out at around the 9 min mark, @Mike K and @Dsheumaker make some smooth passes on me. |

Thanks for the feedback. I worked with Matt for a few sessions, he is a very talented coach and rider. If anyone has a chance to work with him, I highly recommend it.
After reviewing my videos I can definitely see my weakest turns are 2 and 6. I think I over brake on 2 and miss the line on 6. |

First of all, let me ask you 2 things: what brake pads are you running and what tires are you running? As for the things I see for easy improvement (the lap at 12 minute mark was good because you were free from traffic) starting at the braking zone, you are rolling off at the 500 (first) braking marker and coasting in a long way. In gradual increases in going deeper before letting off, you can go down to the 200 still on the gas and just downshift once for T1 (add light brakes for comfort if needed) and get back on it when you know your line will hit the apex. As comfort builds, you won't need brakes, just a downshift. The short straight into T2, full throttle and get on the brakes later and harder. Again, this is a progression pushing your comfort levels a little bit at a time. This is why reference points are very important. Unless you are setting up to pass someone, stay on your marks. I noticed something else starting at T2. You stayed in the same gear all the way until T8! This tells me you need to at least double downshift into T2. T2 is also a good trail braking corner, allowing you to brake later. You are on a small bore bike that makes it's best power up in the rpm's. The rotational mass of the wheels, the faster they are turning, the harder the bike is to turn. The rotational mass of the engine offsets the rotational mass of the wheels. So by keeping your rpm's high, not only are you getting better power to the ground and better throttle response, you are able to change the direction of the bike easier too. That good thing T2-T3, T3-T4 and T4-T5. On a 250, I downshift twice for T2, upshift 1 entering T3, upshift once entering T4. U[on exit of T5, get the bike vertical and full throttle into the inside of T6 and drop 1 gear while on the brakes turning the bike to hold a tight line into T6. T6 apex is usually 12 feet (or so) too late , so i fade out "early" there on the gas and upshift before turn in T7. Turn in for T7 is important. It lets you get on the gas sooner when you have a knee over the grass at apex and stay on WFO all the way past the apex of T10. I upshift before T9 too. Adding these tips will definitely bring your times down. Nothing major to correct. Hope that helps you Jose Last futzed with by shift957; September 22nd, 2016 at 04:48 PM. |

Nate, really appreciate the detailed feedback. Gotta rewatch the video tonight and look at your notes.
To answer your question I am using EBC HH sintered pads and Dunlop Alpha 13s, but it seems like we dont need brakes at this track! (except for T2 and T11). Cant wait to ride with TPM again, hoping for NC in Oct. I am definitely getting a membership for next season. Great coaches and members. |

Yeah, not much hard braking at NCBike. Those brake pads and tires are perfect.
I took art basic as my first track day in 2006 with TPM and loved it. I rode with 6+ other orgs over time, (and had a great time with most all of them) but choose to coach for TPM because they made me feel like family. Hope to see you at the next one in October Jose! |
