DIY Exhaust ???s
Ok So my new (used) exhaust came in the mail today. It is a TwoBros slip on. The guy who sold it to me said it comes with all mounting hardware. I downloaded the install manual for the exhaust off the website. I am looking at the exhaust wondering if this came with everything I need to install it. If anyone can look at these pics and let me know if there is anything else I need to install the slip on. I would rather get everything I need and then start, rather than get my hands all dirty and have to run to home depot to pick up parts. Any tips would be helpful too. I read kkims diy exhaust as well. This will be my first upgrade/install on my bike so be friendly guys.
Thanks in advance. |

Slip-ons are fairly simple, in fact the full exhausts are fairly simple to install as well. The slip-on you bought looks like it has the adjustable clamp that attaches the slip-on to your main pipe, and the hanger bolt. Should be all you need to install it, other than getting some exhaust gasket material to prevent popping (you would put around the end of the main pipe where the slip-on clamps on to it.) but this will not hurt your bike if you do not put any seal on it, you will just get some popping when you lay off the throttle due to air getting in.

Looks 2 me like it has everything, remove your stock can, and replace with slip-on...Slide your stock pipe into the inlet of the can 3/4" roughly, Mount the can with the srew on the top of it, the same way your stock can was mounted...Tighten the bolt, and clamp....DONE.....

Ok...so 20 minutes later and I installed the exhaust. I fired it up and this thing is loud. I reved the throttle a bit and it started popping. How can I fix that? also where the 3/4 inlet meets the stock pipe, I tightened the clamp as hard as I could but it still felt loose. When I pulled the stock pipe out it felt snug. Could that be my problem for the popping?

The popping has to do with the kleen air system on the bike...To stop the popping, remove this by plugging up the system...It's really easy took me maybe 30 mins to do, you will need some supplies though...Here's a link
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9948 Make sure all your connections on the pipe and can are secure, and if its still popping do this, You should do this anyway though now that you have a new can.. |

Nope, I just got used to it. I have been meaning to pull the snorkel, but have been lazy...I am sure that + shimming will help alot.
