Body armor in (A) star jacket.
So taking a leather (A) jacket removing the crapy foam pad and replacing with this.
http://www.ar500armor.com/ar500-armo...l#.VTMGu03wufA Id think it work just as well as the hard plastic bionic armor they have but will also stop bullets.

My 2¢,
I wouldn't, it's just a trauma plate, no energy absorption properties, useless in a motorcycle accident. There is a reason for CE rating system, part of which is absorbing, and dissipating the impact energy. I personally have this installed in a number of my jackets https://www.bohnarmor.com/catalog/pr...?prod=KAJACKET

It's only a 1/4" thick, weighs 5 lbs, and is designed to stop bullets. Why do you think this would make good motorcycle armor?

I live around a lot of shity areas with car jacking and robbery happens often. If I start shooting and they shoot back id like to have some impact protection. Id but id still like it to stand up to a crash.

I dunno man... energy absorption and displacement is 99% how these types of products work to stop a bullet. However, there may be some merit to what you are saying in terms of how they deform upon impact. Cone shape vs. mushroom.

It's a trauma plate, plain and simple, it just slows down and hopefully stops the bullet, the energy is not dissipated one bit. Pit a steel plate on you chest the have someone hit it with a hammer, etc....
A trauma plate is used in soft body armor, like Kevlar vests, which it is installed on the outside of the vest, leaving the underlying Kevlar to dissipate the energy, somewhat. Being from a law enforcement background myself, having worn a Kevlar vest with trauma plate installed, having taken a few hits, I can tell **** really hurts, bruising, broken ribs, etc... I know it's beats then taken the bullet without protection, but remember any decent rifle is going thru it, best you can hope for is it slows it down enough, which in most cases it doesn't. If your truly worried about getting shot, etc.... Go buy a level III vest, but remember you head does make a nice target too. Why do you think some agencies train for head shots. BTW nothing is bulletproof, it's all bullet resistance, I just need a bigger and better bullet, take my word on that.

At least if someone hits you with a 762 round (AK47?), you'll live to talk about it. I don't know man. It just looks really uncomfortable and hot for the summer.

I've worn plates. I would never want to wear them on a motorcycle. I feel like impact-wise, hitting the plates upon crashing would hurt as much as just hitting the ground.

If you're worried about getting shot on your bike, maybe you can get a motorcycle back protector insert for your jacket and then wear the trauma plate over it? Carry it in a backpack or something lol.

I would THINK that the soft plate would be a reasonable alternative to the back protector in the jacket, however, your front wouldn't be covered, which would mean getting a vest anyway. Wearing a vest then, it might be a better idea to simply remove the back protector out of the motor jacket. I mean, it's there to protect your spine if in case you hit something with your back while crashing. The soft plate would absorb that energy to some extent, but not as much as CE armor. On the other hand, CE armor obviously isn't tough enough to handle a bullet.
I'm sure this is what everybody meant, but just to set the records straight, body armor does absorb the energy of a bullet. Not all, but that which it does is transferred into heat. The rest remains kinetic energy that transfer through the plate into the wearer's body and that breaks bones and such. To apply this to a motorcycle crash, whether the force comes from sliding and hitting a pole and is dissipated by a CE spine protector, or from a bullet and is dissipated by a soft armor plate, they are both going to be better than nothing. Obviously a hard plate comes with it's own risks as it could get caught on something and the jacket's ability to retain it might not be enough, turning it itself into a projectile.
