$100 '09 Ninja 250r
Hey everyone!
I picked this 2009 250r up for $100 recently and figured I'd document the progress with some pics. For $100 I got what you see here: Last futzed with by SlowNsteady; August 19th, 2017 at 11:05 PM. |

So far I've connected a fresh battery and confirmed it turns over. I installed a couple fairing pieces and a new windscreen.
Ordered a few parts... rearsets, clipons, seat, fairings, Racetech fork springs, Racetech Gold valves, tires, sprockets, chain, quick turn throttle tube, etc etc I'll post current pics soon |

Hell, even if it didn't run, that's a great price for a parts bike.

Ha yeah I was a little worried about that too... I went straight to register the bike after I bought it. Transferred the title without any issues. The VIN stamped on the frame matches the VIN on the pink slip, and the license plate matches the pink slip. No problems there. I just got lucky with a pretty good deal

Yeah thanks! The exhaust is brand new. Apparently that was the first thing he did to rebuild the bike. That and supposedly installed a stage 2 Dyno Jet kit. He gave me the box for the Dyno Jet kit which looked like it was used... I'll have to open the carbs and take a look.

Thanks!!! The pink slip came in the mail today. It's officially mine now.
One of the main packages with necessary OEM parts and a couple tools was "lost" by UPS I have a small pile of parts that need to be installed... but can't make real progress without that missing delivery. So far I've bought the following: -Pireli tires -Motion Pro quick turn throttle tube -Woodcraft Clipons -eBay rearsets -OEM tail fairings (eBay) -eBay levers -eBay fork preload adjusters -OEM seat (eBay) -eBay rear cowl -Apex stainless front brake line -gas tank Stomp Grips -PMC pair removal plate -blue LEDs for instrument cluster -Racetech fork springs -Racetech gold valves -eBay double bobble windscreen -chain/sprockets Last futzed with by SlowNsteady; August 20th, 2017 at 09:33 PM. |

I bought an '01 for $100 back in May. Basically needed everything. You got one hell of a deal. My 01 just got finished and runs like a champ now its time to sell although I might keep it for the winter as this is a bad time to sell. Since yours is a 2009 parts, especially fairings will be easy to come by. Pre-gens are a much different story. I was able to get the '06 in my profile pic for $700 it needed nothing but the fairings to be repaired along with a new $40 stay bar, which I did in a week. So this summer I bought two Ninjette's for $800. Sometimes the Heavens open up and out falls these great deals we have no business passing up. So, great find! Keep us updated and definitely let us see the finished product. I love how everything is blacked out on yours. You should roll with it. If the fairings start to seem like they are gonna cost too much just buy a pair of side fairings and turn her into a café style aka street fighter. Perfect color for that.

Nice find and looks nice. You could try posting in the "wanted" section for OEM parts as many guys have TONS of spares laying around. It'll save ya quite a bit of money as opposed to buying OEM stuff new.
I gots a part bike if youre looking for some stuff too...

Finally got some work done on this...
-drained and cleaned the gas tank -removed kleen/pair parts -fitted the instrument cluster and subframe tray -replaced the incandescent bulbs in the dash with "ice blue" LEDs (PC194 LED blubs) Still have to rebuild the forks with the Racetech springs/valves, replace the tires, install the fairings/gas tank/seat/levers/clipons/etc etc |

Removed the tail section that came on the bike and replaced it with an OEM piece from eBay. Also added a knock off rear seat cowl from eBay, and started to install the Woodcraft clipons.
Does anyone know how to secure the rear portion of the seat cowl??? It isn't secured to the bike at all. Only the front section with the locking latch is secure. |

Ran into an issue with the cheapo frame sliders that came on the bike... the mounting hardware for the sliders was super rusted and nearly welded on the bike. Had to get creative to get them off. Now waiting on replacement OEM parts to remedy the problem.
The frame sliders that came installed on the bike used the side of the engine as support. I'm not an expert but it looks like a really bad idea. |

The cowl should have a pin on it which lines up with the hole on the bracket which the OEM passenger seat slips under. Sorry for the poor description, if you need I can supply some photos. |
