I would have bought new parts far sooner, but seeing a person go through testing a wiring harness virtually was a bit amusing

- tach - fuel-gauge - fuel-level sender - left-coil - IC-ignitor Aside from ignitor, which we've tested to be bad, he would've replaced perfectly-working parts with brand-new perfectly-working parts. Which is still only dealing with symptoms/effects of problem. Wouldn't have fixed issues and most likely will have fried new IC-ignitor as well. Cause is shorts in wiring, which he found one and fixed; but there appears to be more. And even then, shorts may be additional symptoms as well. Actual cause and problem may very well be sharp edge of metal somewhere on frame or tank that's scratching wires and creating shorts. He'll then have to replace harness with new one every 6-months as new shorts are created until real problem is found and addressed. |

A bit of a side note, as far as the old cdi box that's bad, even though it looks like a sealed unit, is there any way to dissect / possibly repair it?

Trace from the black-wire terminal onto circuit board and you'll find driver-transistor. Get part# off it if not fried. Otherwise, should be same part# as one on green-wire side. Desolder driver transistor and replace with new one. That's how I'ved fixed many automotive ECUs. Mainly Bosch Motronic boxes from Porsches that get fried when people install low-impedance injectors without appropriate ballast resistors. |

Got the new wiring harness and cdi box in and hooked up today. Tested with noid' light and its getting signal to both coils. Fired up and sounds like its running on both cylinders.
Idle sticks and sits between 3000-5000rpm and it dies if you give it throttle. So carbs are my next adventure. In any case, thank you everyone for all your help, its much appreciated |

I have a 2007 but the 2008 and later appear to be nearly the same looking at the parts diagram.
