It’s on there. It’s on the fairing just below the gas tank. Just a dark picture. But it’s there! Love those stickers. Pretty cool they were able to make you a custom one to match Vickie!

@Ram Jet She got a sister? Phone number?
Amen to @VaFish young daughter, good for her! (but hopefully someday the Ducati bug'll bite ) To topic...my day.... these 25 year old, badly neglected Ducati/Mikuni carbs on the hit list Free flowing, uncontrolled float systems, rock hard flattened seals/orings everywhere, missing parts, pilot jets blocked solid....the works Intend to replace every consumable, and those above and beyond traditional "carb kit" as well (fuel and vent rail seals)

Jennings....my my we are showing our age(s) today
No doubt Mikuni made a great product. But long term owner neglect is contemptible ....destructive to even the best carpotata's. Not groundbreaking info....periodic maintenance and replacement of ALL consumables is mandatory to sustaining a long, reliable service life.

results of my Ducati/Mikuni day...these much improved, I project will be fully functional. Have yet to "rerack" them.
Some orings were near crystallized (original?) I believe these were never fully serviced in their 25 year lifespan. EVERY oring, seal, circuit, float system, fuel pathway.....all have been renewed/replaced/addressed. Jetting tweaks and setup per owners specific wants/needs. As old as they are, they'll now go another 25! Somehow, I think Jennings would give a nod of approval! And @Ram Jet too?

Very nice! I have grown quite fond of Ducati and KTM over the last few years. I got my eye on an R6 though. Not too many Ducati’s in the Chicago area. However I would certainly test drive one before I made any kind of new purchase. I’m happy with my 250 so I’m in no hurry to up the CC’s. But I’m looking.

Got the oil changed today. My 250 runs like a dream at almost 18k miles but every time I change the oil there’s always that fear I’ll see something I don’t want to see in the oil or in the filter. So it’s always a relief to see everything looks GQ!

Oh, I won’t be changing oil brands, ever. She will get the $10+/quart stuff for as long as she’s mine. Which I’ve decided if I upgrade in CC’s I’m still keeping Lucy. Lucy Blue, I love you.

My rear tire tread was getting very thin so I took advantage of being off for Good Friday so I put on a new tire that I had ordered a while back.

Honestly never had to change a rear tire yet. Not looking forward to it since my bike has no center stand because it had to be removed for the Muzzy exhaust. Nice bike btw I really liked that color in ‘05.

https://www.pit-bull.com/weld-on-spo...-929-f0019-000 I combined a few items one winter when I was still living in Ohio and couldn't ride. I had the swing arm off for unitrak linkage service; while I was at it, I mocked up these lugs and had a friend weld them on for me for the price of a 6-pack of beer, then I sealed up my bearings, sandblasted and bed-lined the whole swing arm black, and had my rear wheel powder coated. I preferred this method to the center stand. It's a little inconvenient for doing a unitrak service, but a typical A-frame ladder with some decent ratchet straps can hold the rear end of the bike while you remove the swingarm and linkages just as well as the center stand ever did. |

I'll upload pictures later when i've got some final shots, but I took my numberplate and rear indicator brackets off and gave them a rub down over the weekend. Spruced them up with a coat of anthracite to clean up the back of the bike a little and take some of the orange rust shades away.
I live in England and its kinda difficult to avoid and signs of rust without having a garage to keep the bike in. |

Ok so I paid $200 for a very nice upper headlight fairing for my 2006. After I got it in the mail and on my bike, wow major upgrade. My bike is looking so nice cosmetically now.
Anyway, I listed the old broken one on eBay for $100 and it sold today. So I’m happy about that! Didn’t know if I’d get $100 for it or not. It was in terrible shape.

My 250 is the same color and I get quite a few complements. It's a complicated paint job; silver base coat, transparent blue (candy) overcoat and a clear top coat.

I’m glad DM asked because honestly I never knew or even thought to look. I’m just gonna say “candy blue” if anyone ever asks again lol. I appreciate all the compliments you guys I’ve really worked hard to maintain her outward beauty. But inside she’s just as beautiful. Almost 18k mi and she runs better than my old 2001 ever did new motor and all. That bike was just a disaster, if anyone knows Bill, it’s you. $50 project turned into a nightmare. Fortunately I put $600 into her and got $900 out of her. I tried to contact the kid the other day to see how she’s running but he must’ve got a different number. I would bet she’s sitting somewhere not running. I really tried with her. But when this 2006 came along for $700 I couldn’t pass it up. I honestly never knew she would be this perfect. Imo you keep bikes like that until the day comes she just can’t go anymore. I don’t see that day coming anytime soon though.

Last weekend I took the Ninja apart to give it a good clean (that didn't last long as you can see), replaced all the fairing bolts with some lovely flat black numbers, and did a repair on the front nose cone, the bike got blown over in the wind last year and left a crack in the plastic.
The final job was to fabricate a little exhaust hanger so I could remove the rear passenger footpegs. A friend of mine's dad has all sorts of goodies in his garage so we even managed to get it powder coated. Really happy with it, I think its come up really nice. I'll throw some full pics up when it gets ANOTHER clean because its been a filthy week in the UK this week. |
