Welcome Marty!
Could that be a breather hose that connects to the crankcase? |

Welcome to Ninjette, Marty!
Trace hose to other end and let's see where it attaches. Post photo for us. |

Yeah, for us experienced folks it seems obvious. But for new folks, it's a process that seems to be missing and needs to be taught.
Like with wiring. Someone posts that they found free wire-end on their bike. Then asks where it should be plugged in. Well, wires, like hoses, have 2 ends. Tracing that wire to other end will give you tonnes of data to fix. Like if it connects to a light bulb, or to a turn-signal, or to start-button. All useful data that didn't exist before. So if that hose connects to carb-vent, or carb fuel-inlet, or to gas tank. All that info tells us way, way more than random free end of hose with non-OEM fitting at end. He said "i cant seem to find any connections to plug it onto", so he has been looking. His photo shows it connected to the intake manifold that connects the two heads to one carburetor. The hose seems to possibly be larger in diameter than a typical vacuum line would be. That's why I have a feeling it's a breather hose. Of course there would probably be something along the lines of a PCV valve in that case, so the intake doesn't just suck like crazy on the crankcase. Or maybe it's really a vacuum hose.
Web photos show the barb on the intake manifold, and some sort of fitting low on one cylinder, but I can't tell much else. Marty, could the hose go to something like a vacuum pulse operated fuel pump? Maybe something above the engine? |

connecting to an emissions breather cannister not shown, not installed or previously removed? These cannisters utilize a vacuum source to create negative pressure in order to gather fumes from targeted sources. Removing the hose and capping the vac barb would be the logical "fix" if deemed necessary.
Note in your pic....someone has plugged the hose using a bolt. You do that? Or a PO? No other extra parts laying around? A black box of some sort? I'd suggest finding the proper parts book online to inspect emissions related stuff.
