YouTube?
Got a GoPro from my li'l brother. It included the double sided tape and mounts and all of that, even a mic.
So I did what any motorcyclist would do, put the mic and cam on my helmet. So now I'm thinking about maybe vlogging about random crap. Idk. What does all my fellow ninjette peeps think?

I say go for it.
Readers digest: editing is key! Doesn't have to be splashy/hi-tech, just tastefull, and simple. ( and good microphone sound..or if no sound, music that captures the feeling of the video) Of course "mainstream" vloggers have all sorts of expensive stuff today. But it can be quite good, on limited budgets. To me, the biggest thing to capture an audience is the quality of content. In some cases, I've run across a few videos where almost nothing was said, just delightful camera angles of a bike motoring through woods, a few off camera shots of nature, etc. Camera set-up, editing software, and...time.. Lots of time editing. But go for it! |

Yup, don't need any fancy equipment. Value is in the editing.

Another thing is camera angles, or transitioning angles. Since Go Pro, and similar cams now use image stabilization, quite a few older tricks, and new ones for even smoother, or downright insane transitions.. People get really creative.
Like sitting them on egg/kitchen timers for a slow pan. A few tricks with mirrors, and even seen some sliding by with a string/swing by shots. Behind the camera may look goofy, but the in frame visuals can be stunning. Just have to play around with it. |

I need to find a decent, low cost, editing software. Since adobe went to the creative cloud, I no longer can transfer my old Adobe software that WORKED JUST FINE FOR ME.
Ugh. I'm searching for a freeware alternative, or just a low cost one. Stinks when you spent over 200 on software and they stop letting you install it because they just don't want you to.....

Give it a shot!
With your photography experience your videos will be significantly better composed and recorded than 90% of what's out there. A clear shot with a clean background goes a long way. Let us know when you have something posted. |

Definitely go for it! You never know! Someone great once said "What if I never tried it?"
