stock exhaust for full Yoshimura system
I would really like to trade somebody straight-up for my full Yoshimura exhaust system on my 2005 250. The right can is the hardest hit; left looks really nice and everything functions just fine. It's honestly a nice exhaust system but I just really don't care for loud bikes. This thing kinda sounds like a 450 motocross bike and that's not really my bag. I would prefer a set of the heavy old black or chrome cans these bikes came with. HMU with what you got, if you're in SoCal that's even better as shipping sucks for exhaust.

Unfortunately, pre-gen and new-gen exhausts are completely different.

That's what I thought... I wish they weren't. I really like the 2 into 1 the new-gen utilizes.

I found some bashed up stock pipes on ebay super cheap. That being said, if anyone wants these just drop me a pm, they will be sitting once I get the new exhaust installed.

Would you mind weighing the Yosh system compared to stock?
I may have to take those off your hands. Wonder if there's way to install noise-reducing insert. Perhaps with some cutting & welding... hmmm.... |

Here is what it looks like on the RS3 model: ![]() No silencer: ![]() Installed: ![]() I was skeptical as to whether it would make a difference or not... it sure did though. Mufflers and the associated acoustics fall into the dark arts, I don't understand them but I like them quieted down. I'm glad this worked on my 650 at any rate.

hey, thanks! That looks like RS3 silencer for my CBR600RR system as well. Yeah, black magic for sure if you don't have CFD software. It seems like it wouldn't work because it's still straight-through pipe.
Although I'm on fence. I may just build 2-1 system as extra mid-range is what I'm really after. I've already got the later cams, but my 2002 is still too peaky and requires way more revs than my new-gen. |

I can't tell for sure, but it looks like without the extra silencer the exhaust comes though some perforations and out the exit. The insert appears to make the gas go back toward the engine through a fairly tight clearance to get into its tube.

The Muzzy 2-1 is definitely what you want if all you're after is weight savings. This Yoshi is undoubtedly lighter but it's still a 2-can setup which is dumb imo.
Did I mention it's LOUD? Because if you want that... here ya go

well, I want to figure this black magic out too! I need to find some CFD lab time to figure out how and why the open end insert works.
I made 2nd insert for my CBR that was even quieter than Yosh one. Which made much more sense because it had closed end at beginning and forced air to flow around sides and through perforations to get into centre section and escape out end. ![]() |

![]() Danno, looks like those inserts would do a good job. You even have a little tunability if you drilled a small hole in the end-cap to allow different flow characteristics. That being said, I was surprised how much the factory insert from Yoshimura quieted down the bike. It did a lot for being as simple as it was.

Please give system to Singh2jz, I'm going to build my own 2-1 system.
![]() The adjustability idea is behind Supertrapp mufflers. They have diffuser-end that accepts various numbers of washers to tune restriction and noise. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sup-344-1705 |

Well they're yours, and let me know what your situation is on stock mufflers. I just got my money refunded from Ebay for no reason... I guess the seller backed out. If you have a pair ready to go I will happily return the box full of loud Yoshi goodness.

New pipes from Singh2jz:
![]() Installed! ![]() Yoshis are packed up in the box and going out tonight. I didn't have a scale handy to make a mass comparison between the two sets, but I can say the factory pipes are heavy. I don't mind, they're way worth it so I can hear myself think. I went for a rip around the block and it's just the sound I wanted.

Do the stock mufflers still have the four revets in each rear plate? Mine had been drilled out and it sounded like a lawn mower. I tapped the holes and put screws in, and they sounded nice and quiet.

The ones I got from Singh2jz actually weren't bashed up in any way, so it worked out even better. Hopefully he is enjoying those loud Yoshis right now 👍🏻

Nope, not when bike thievery is at all-time high. I used to take rattyest bike I have to commute to S.F. Even add additional camouflage with rattle-canning anything that stands out flat-black. Just need to look worse than next bike down street.

Are there not $10-$30k Harleys roaming the streets, too? Seems like those would be more enticing to steal.
