Dynojet/Factory Pro
What comes in each of these kits and in your opinion which is more reliable?

Factory Pro CRB-K04-1.0
come with Pilot Jet #40 (2ea.) Needle(2ea.) E-clips (8) 3mm washers (13) main jets #88,#90,#92,#95,#100 Carb screws (8ea.) Both will get the job done. I went with Factory Pro because I have heard that it was a better kit. http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/How_do_...l_a_jet_kit%3F |

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I'm considering the FP myself (delaying this upgrade due to recent shimming)because they had LOTS of tuning info on their site, and seemed to be passionate about carbs, albeit a poorly designed site. |

I didn't say either was UNreliable, I asked which one was MORE reliable. Like asking which is faster a red bike or a green bike, they're both FAST but which one is FASTEST.

more reliable implies one has more problems than the other. my question is, have you heard any info to that effect?

Well I've heard that FactoryPro has more experience with the Ninja 250r than dynojet. And everything has a few flaws here and there.

And Area P uses dynojet in their development work and stocks dynojet, but that doesn't mean that Factory Pro won't work with an Area P system!

According to the list that CANTFUNCTION posted, it looks like the FP kit comes with more stuff than the DJ. The DJ kit comes with the following:
Main Jets: 94 96 98 100 Needles E-clips and washers Plus a drill bit and screw to help take off the idle screw caps. The FP comes with the Pilot jets and the carb screws as well. I wish I had an extra carb screw, I messed one up today. Does anyone know what size they are? |

The jets used in the DynoJet kits are proprietary.
http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/arc.../t-352210.html You could buy the jets you need, shim the needles, and try that route. I did that when I had a KZ550..it had Tekei carbs, and I was not about to spend money on a dynojet kit. I did some research and found out that there was a jet made by keihin that had the same thread pitch. Bought two for 16 bucks, installed em, reset the needles, and I was happy. |

Does anyone know what size they are? The size is 4mm diameter and .70mm pitch which is a coarse thread. (So 4m) Now that is for the screws on the bottom of the carb. I think the one on the top are the same size but don't take my word for it, check it your self. Go to the hardware store with the screw and have someone there help you out. |

I bought an 08 Ninja 250r recently and the previous owner had already upgraded to a Jardine RT-5 Exhaust and re-jetted accordingly using a dynojet kit.. Since I got the bike I did the airbox removal and am now using pod filters and have removed the clean air system. Am I able to just buy new jets or do I need the full kit to re-jet? Ive heard of some people using Mikuni #117.5 Main jets with the same setup as I have...is this brand of jet availiable just by itself or solely in a kit?

you can use the needles that came with the bike and just change out the main jets.
you will need to retune the bike, though. check out the jetting database for some ideas on what mains you should be using. |

Dunno about bike shops, but bet it depends heavily on whether they've got an in-house dynamometer. As for ordering them, I got my 'additional' jets from Dynojet (http://www.dynojet.com/jetkits/jetassortment.aspx) at $2/jet. You'll want the DJ style and don't forget to order them in pairs (one for each cylinder), unless you're doing something really funky. There is a conversion between the "stock" Keihin sizing and the DynoJet sizes, but where the chart is escapes me at the moment.
