04 ex250 brake pad replacement
Can someone help me figure out how to replace the front and rear brake pads on my gen 1 ninjette? It's my first bike and I would like to know how to do my own work and maintenance on my bike. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Welcome to the board!
Changing brake pads isn't all that hard. Look at the exploded drawings, and pay attention when you take things apart. It can be a little tricky getting the pads out and then the new ones in, but even that isn't all that hard once you get the feel for it. |

2 brake jobs completed here in the last week both performed on family owned Toyotas, a Rav 4 and my own Toyota Matrix. At 100k miles, did all 4 wheels on Rav, new front discs and pads all around, cleaned up and bled all 4 as well.
At 80k miles the Matrix just got new front pads with an intensive disc/caliper cleanup, while repainting both calipers. Both vehicles use 2 piece (sliding) calipers requiring some extra service steps to achieve that factory like- new performance....comes with the territory. Both vehicles feel and stop like brand new. Bike brakes relatively simple in comparo.

Greetings & Salutations!!
This board has all info you to any maintenance procedures you may need! Quote:
1. cleaning brake pistons before pushing them back into caliper. No need for complicated procedures for rotating pistons to clean other side. Use shoelaces dipped in brake-fluid to wrap around piston, then floss it back & forth to clean piston all around. 2. remove reservoir cap before pushing pistons into caliper. This prevents incoming fluid from trying to compress air-space at top of reservoir. Easier to push pistons Last futzed with by DannoXYZ; September 24th, 2023 at 07:08 PM. |
