Bad omens ? So...cruisin down Ocean Pkwy and maybe 10 hogs roar by, side by side, same lane...pass the trooper up ahead...no prob (nice looking formation). 4 sports pass me well within the speed limit...not sharing the lanes...pass the trooper and lights flashing he pulls 1 over...find out later that he wrote the guy for changing lane no signal.
I was behind them all, saw the whole event...the guy on the CBR did not change lanes. Not the first time I saw the troopers go after a sport, haqppened to me on SSP ( same charge) and it won't be the last. Have a safe summer. |

That is lame! "Vehicular profiling" isnt it? It happens with cars too.. nobody notices the minivan or Civic doing 56 in a 35, but the Mustang (or other muscle car) going 25 in a 30 with a throaty exhaust is immediately told to slow down.... don't ask me how I know.. lmao
I have told people that if I went any slower I'd be going backwards.... sucks if some authorities are targeting sport bikes... I rode to work pretty much all week.. tomorrow I think Im going to head out to Captree.. Adam

LI and the city
Nice ride up to 301, back to Bear Mtn and LI today. Anybody interested in trying to group up next Sat a.m. ? Some passable hard pack dirt roads in Fahenstock park...rev war iron mines...stuff that's not on maps but nice. Kind of "adventure touring" stuff once we get there. Slab up...twisties back.

Eddie, I'd definitely like to sync up and hit Fahenstock Park one time. I like taking the ninja where it doesn't belong.

I was just near bear mountain the other day. Rode up to Florida NY, got lost, and rode out to 84 near Bear Mountain to get back to Pompton Lakes.
edit: Fahenstock Park is MILES away

Unfortunately I'm up at Kingdom Trails with a dozen buds for a 3 day mountain biking excursion this weekend and spelunking the next.
I was also just looking at Google Maps and checking out around the Sag Harbor area it looks there there are a ton of dirt fire roads and such. Not sure if they are private. I think the usual deal out east when they can't get the road private, the rich folk lobby the local gov to leave the road undeveloped. |

Here's the route Google earth Carmel NY….go west and south to find Taconic, go 1 intersection south of 301 or if you want to do 301 too it’s the NY version of the canyons…famous sport bike road….you tube it Taconic to Pudding Street west/south/left Pudding south to Wiccoppee West or right to Oscawanna Heights Right or north on North Shore Right or west on Sunken Mine……..thru park Right or north on Dennytown Left on Indian Brook Left on Old Albany Post Rd South on 9 Right on Indian Brook Ends @ 9G just above Bear Mtn Bridge The ride up will be fast…70++ Once we get off it’s mostly 2 lane blacktop…all dirt in the park, a lil’ black top and then more dirt….a very nice ride |

zach...for saturday....ok, this is a 5-6 hour ride depending on if you wanna go look for sunken mine...
if you meet me at SSP x 17 @ 10am....or earlier if you want, we'll be back before 5 or 6. Slow down at 17N....I'll be waiting on grass but no need to get off...10am sharp. my cel is 5163437293.....also...if any of the riders on LI, Queens whatever are reading this you'd be welcome to come, these are good twisty roads on the way up, groomed hard packed dirt in the park. Figure 60-70mph up and back...not more than 10mph in the park. Mud, poison ivy, a bunch of eagles , bear mtn bridge, lakes, snaakes, iron mines, druid stone huts, real abandoned castle, places to pee and eat ( not the same). It's a little known loop and i've never seen another bike in the park, mostly hikers and4x4's. Route 301 adjoins the route and 301 is sportbike heaven....as far as metro NY goes. |

The movies came out good...too big...I'll see if one of my friends can tell me how to compress them and i'll forward.
Now...Lake george...2oo easy miles + up the pike but miles of snomobile trails all twice as wide as what we had. In fact....sno mo trails all the way to Canada. I'm going to contact the Kawa shop up there and see if he can hook me up with anybody...maybe some quad dudes some some mx guys...man, if we could only get knobbies |

Delaware Water Gap. There is something there!
I used to go that way to the track at Pocono. Fairfield and Litchfield Counties in CT are also fun (and closer).

CC...ACTUALLY...water Gap can lead to a nice ride along the river...611 I think. Wound up going to Mass...nothing there in western mass so I rode country roads all afternoon. I've mentioned this before...there is a surprising lack of bikes on the road here, even upstate. I can't figgure the economy is THAT bad that people stopped riding. All the reg bikers destinations are like empty.
I mean, even the traffic on the LI Riders board...very few posts. OK....more room for me on the road ? |

The first pic is an aqueduct.....built by the same guy who did the Brooklyn Bridge...Roebling..small barges used to be pulled OVER the river on this, like a train trestle, but for boats. It's a bridge that was filled with water. The second shot is looking down onto the Delaware. The last shot is cali preparing to blow by the semi's on US84.....errr...the people who express caution about these bikes on superhighways and passing trucks maybe can try downshifting.
Coming off a 600, this bike amazes me as. It seems to do whatever you ask it as long as you work with it. |

saturday ride
Cali....you will LOVE this route
Zach...we'll be cruising up pretty fast but after that, like 100 miles of route 301....c'mon. Thruway or Taconic to Kingston 28 west to 28a around reservoirs ( all 2 lane from here on) back to 28west past phoenecia to CR 47 (oliverea rd) south thru frost valley to 55 55 east to 52 back to 87 near Newburgh ( may pass ellenville overlokk..bee-oo-tiful) From there, either cross Hudson and go down 9G, go directly to Taconic or stay on west side and go down 9w. Depends on time. Kingston is about 2 ˝ hours if traffic is good…Newburgh, about 2 hours. If i remember ride is either 320 or 360 miles |
