I think I have subscriptions to 3 or 4 different ones. I'll have to check when I get home for the names. Sportbike Rider is the only one I can remember at the moment.
They're all pretty good. |

Cycle World
Motorcyclist Road Racing World Road Racer X Motorcycle Consumer News Sport Rider Practical Sportbikes* Classic Motorcycle Mechanics* Bike* Visor Down* *= British mag I subscribe to/read all of these every month. As you can imagine, some of it is quite repetitive. Each has its target audience. And this is just a small sample. I care nothing for cruiser/dirt/stunta/show/etc so I don't know what those mags are. My faves are RRW, RRX, Cycle World, and Bike. But if I could only have one it would have to be RRW: great writing, great features, insightful commentary on all racing, and of course the CRASH PAGE!! |

Sport bike magazines?
Need some good quality bathroom reading materials.
Anybody recommend a decent sport bike magazine for a reasonable price? (under $20)

Pretty sure there is one literally called sport bike magazine, or maybe its sport rider, not sure. My gf got me a subscription last year for that and motorcyclist magazine. Both are good, motorcyclist i feel slightly better. I read them when i drink coffee in the morning and tell her which bike i need to buy next haha, lets see if she renews the subscription

The big three magazines are Sport Rider, Cycle World and Motorcyclist. Sport Rider is, of course, sport bike oriented. In my view, the other two are pretty much the same as one another.
As with most glossy pubs, there's a lot of fluff... pages devoted to new gear that you already know about, devoid of any real information, etc. But the writing can be very good. People like Kieth Code and Nick Ienatsch write columns for these magazines. Motorcycle Consumer News (not to be confused with the british MCN) is a small publication supported entirely through subscriptions. It can be very informative and has lots of material on riding technique, health and fitness, etc. Ken Condon writes their technique column. Jay, you know who this guy is... he's the number-two at Tony's Track Days, the thin guy with gray curly hair and glasses who stood next to Tony during the briefing. He's also the author of Riding in the Zone. This magazine is not written for those with the attention span of a gnat. If you follow racing at all, Roadracing World is great. They also have useful tech info in addition to race coverage and do a special issue every year devoted entirely to track days. Right now they're doing a series on turning a street bike into a race bike... they're up to part 7, I think.

I had subscriptions, but I dropped all of them. Not because I no longer have a motorcycle, but because after a while, you kind of find repetitive information.
I also used to like Car and Driver, until they did a review of a Mustang Boss 302 vs Subaru BRZ. Every time they write an article, it is about what performed the best. Even though the Boss won, they determined the BRZ the winner. Basically they ignored the data and voted based on what they FELT was the winner, not the actual winner. Stuff like that gets on my nerves, so I drop them. Motorcycle mags tend to do that a little less, so I tolerated it more.

The list above is still pretty good, though Road Racer X has kicked the bucket. In addition to many of those, I get Rider, BMW Owners News, and CityBike (a local SF motorcycle paper).

Amazon evidently runs magazine subscription deals. One going on right now is Motorcycle Consumer News (MCN) for $5 ($0.42/issue), for a full year subscription. If you're already a subscriber, it will work as a renewal as well. Not sure if this is a year-end deal or will still be valid next month:
Link to deal on Amazon Main magazine website is here: http://www.mcnews.com/mcn/

It's not a great time for motorcycle magazines. Looking at the lists within this thread, many of them just aren't around anymore. One of the latest casualties is Motorcycle Consumer News (MCN), which just shut down last month. (story on Revzilla)

I had a subscription for Cycleworld, Motorcyclists and Sportrider for years. Then it was just Sportrider, now they are gone. 😰. Yes I am a fossil, I like reading a nice MOTORCYCLE magazine with a cup of coffee. ☕️ The times are a changing. I have been thinking of subscribing to RoadRacing World magazine. I get a free copy usually when I order over 100 bucks from STG.

I also write for a Magazine out of Canada called Motorcycle Mojo Magazine. There I have my own column once a month and it's a great publication. You can check it out here: https://www.motorcyclemojo.com/2019/...ope-of-colour/ I also enjoy Roadracing World and there is another one out of the UK that I submit articles too as well. https://www.adventurebikerider.com Good luck with choosing and enjoy!

I'm sure putting magazine on-line is significantly less expensive than printing millions of copies and then shipping them to subscribers. Too bad so many have gone under before being able to make the switch. I really like SportRider.net, they had a great specs-comparison section.
