SV 1000 - any opinions
I luvs me my 2fiddy and owning two (or more) bikes probably won't happen so I've been thinking of moving up. There is an 2003 SV1000 for sale in my area for $2500 and I could probably unload my bike for at least that. Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on the SV. Btw it's fully faired w/39K miles.

A great bike, and a great all-around ride. Tis a v-twin, which means a bit more vib than the ninja, but they are solid bikes.... If it doesn't already have aftermarket pipes, you're probably going to need those if you wanna ride hard on the track though.... I know a few people who've scrapped, and one of those crashed because he caught the stock exhaust....
It might not be the fastest, or most powerful litre bike out there, but it tis a great ride!

Great bike, thats a great price on it, check out svrider.com it deals mostly with the 650 but there are alot of 1ks there also. Very powerful engine with alot less rpm needed, once a aftermarket exhaust and commander is installed it really wakes it up and sounds great. ps all the faired ones came full farrings only the naked ones had nothing.

Don't the SV1k's have a super aggressive supersport seating position? Have you sat on that thing yet, Bob? I personally like the SS position, but if you're looking for a more upright ride, this may not be the bike for you. That's just what I've heard from SV1k owners, anyway. It's a sweet bike, though. It's definitely in the running for my next bike.
Edit: Sorry this would be for the faired bikes. The naked ones are rare around my area so I keep forgetting they exist. |

From what I can gather about the sv1000 is that it does put more weight on the wrists that the 250. I don't think the rider stance is uber aggresive but I'm gonna find out soon if the bike doesn't sell before Sunday.
