What does this bolt do?

Hello all,

The one picture shows the "passenger's" side bolt I am referring to.

The bolt that I am holding was removed from the "driver's" side

It does not appear to fasten anything, and removing it doesn't seem to affect what it is bolted into.

I'm sure it is there for a purpose, I just don't know enough about bikes to divine its raison d'etre.

But I'm sure folks here would know.

Thanks!
Ash

randomwalk is correct, it holds the front fender stay, which also has the brake-line guide welded to it, and the front fender is also attached to. If you remove both, your front fender and stay will rattle, and depending on how hard you ride, you might feel the front end being less-rigid....

You are coreect, but she is asking about the other side I think. The "left" side, that bolt holds the guide to hold the odometer/speedometer cable, also helps support the front fender too.
