How much did you pay for your 86-07 Ninja 250
I'll start.
I got mine on 11/22/10 from a guy that just bought a house, new car, and is getting married in a few months. He made the post on craigslist at 2:45am and I saw and sent a text to him at 4:30am. I had the bike in my garage by 11:00am that day. I paid $1000 cash for a black 07 with 2440 miles, and not a mark on her. The local motorcycle shop helped arrange a service to get the bike to my house for $65. I was not in the market for a pre gen ninja, but how do you pass on a deal like that for a first bike? Now with the red flames off the bike, I love it. |

I bought a salvaged '05 for $1500 back in March of '09 from a guy who's wife had a baby on the way and wasn't cool with his riding anymore. It had some road rash on the fairings and somewhere around 2000 miles on it, but it was in great running condition. It was several hundred cheaper than most of the competition at the time, so I snatched it up (The going prices are a little different in California )
In September of '09, a number of low/no speed drops (), and a little over 1000 miles later, I picked up a spotless '09 with around 900 miles on it for $3500 (also the cheapest I could find at the time), and sold the '05 for $1200 to some guy who was really enthusiastic and excited to learn to ride (He said he could pay the full $1500 if I waited another two weeks, but I was happy to see it go to a good home, and I was happy to be rid of the stress of selling a vehicle sooner rather than later). |

Bought my 1994 in Feb09 from a kid and his dad for $1800 with about 5500 miles on it. It also has the flush signals in front, integrated signals in back, fender eliminated, yoshi 2-1 exhaust and carb jetting. So to me that was a great deal at the time since most were either stock for slightly more or junk for slightly less. A friend from work helped me pick it up and store it till the weather got better. Then I moved to Florida that May and the weather has been great 90% of the time since.

I bought my 1994 Ninjette last June for $1500 from an older guy who has too many bikes. It had 5500 miles. It's never been laid down or wrecked, so it's in perfect shape. It also came with brand new tires and a new battery.

2007 Ninja 250 from a younger guy who was moving (Feb of '09). He didn't want to deal with shipping it, so he just wanted to sell it. He just wanted it paid off and 1900 was what was left on it. I always have said I paid $2k for it, but I didn't. So I exchanged $1900 for a title and set of keys. It had 11k on the clock and now it is just shy of 20k miles. I told myself I'm going to put some serious mileage on it between now and Christmas of 2011. Now I take it to work quite often. It has to be over 40% chance of rain for me not to (mainly because I don't own a pair of touring boots as of yet, I hate wet feet).

I paid $2500 for my 2007.
Worth every penny, though, as it came with: * Yosh cans * Custom windscreen * Extra seat with tailbag mount * Rebuilt Racetech front forks * Air shock from a mid-90s Ninja 600 * New tires * Extra fun like LED tail lights, fender eliminator, brake modulator, headlight modulator Plus my buddy drove it up in his van from LA for me -- about 400 miles each way -- since I was still injured and couldn't ride more than about 10 miles at a time.

$2100 for a 2006 with 5200 in August 2009. Absolutely spotless condition and about $500 less than similar models in less perfect condition.

Paid $2K for an 2000 EX250. Put about a $1K worth of aftermarket parts and sold it for $1500.
About a few months later I discovered through a mutual friend that her bike got stolen. Sucked for her. |

Yasko, I think you beat me! I paid $1000 for a 2002 with 2450 miles back in the summer. I put a set of tires on it, 15t sprocket and cleaned carbs. That was 3k miles ago Oh yeah the trans did go bad when some interior plate holding clutches backed out....put in new shift forks and some RED locktite. Love my little bike.

I hope this thread helps people in the market for an older bike. They are great little bikes for small money.

Way back in the middle of 2004, I believe I bought Annie's pre-gen new for $4100 OTD, $300 or so of that was the warranty (which we ended up not needing on that particular bike)

Worth every penny! It was beginning of riding season in the Bay Area, too. |
