That's cool. I got one of the older one and kick stand is not working. Any way to update the firmware?

ok general question here. What are the benefits of advancing the ignition? I know it requires you to use higher octane gas to avoid knocking, but I don't know much other than that

I have been searching. I know that people have changed to the pregen CDI because theirs acts funny when it warms up, but I'm not asking about the physical CDI, I'm wondering what advancing the ignition does.

Adv timing gives a lil better response and may be hp but I swapped it out bc of bad cdi (fluct rpm).

It helps the fuel to burn more completly as the RPM of the engine gets higher in turn producing slightly better HP in each cylinder.
Hope this helps. This subject can get real technical.

It's good to know they fixed the kickstand kill switch issue.

I have never forgot about the kickstand, so this was not that big of a deal, but I could see a noobie needing it - kept the original CDI if I resale.
I have the non-programmable unit. |

Those articles made sense. Now there's 2 things on my list of what Kawasaki should do to the ninja next. FI, and revisit the CDI.

They weren't broken in the first place.
I recommend non programmables for anyone who is not doing timed events. The thing I don't like about non programmable is you cannot trouble shoot them. The programmables can be reset.

Can you use regular 'super' fuel without adding octane booster when using the non programmable unit ?

i use 93 octane (premium fuel). There were a couple occasions where I forgot and pumped 87 octane (regular) and it worked just fine.

How much of a difference did you notice with the second map and 93 octane? I have yet to even hook-up the map button. I have bought a few different set of connectors, but none were the right size to use without slicing the wires coning from the unit - that, and I'm lazy.
